Everton's top scorers since 2000, putting Lukaku's performance in proper context

I forgot to add as well that in the last 15 years, only 3 Everton players have scored more than 12 goals in a season - Yakubu (21 in 07/08), Saha (15 in 09/10) and Lukaku (16 last season).

There's a pretty decent chance he'll score more than 12 this season too, given he already has 10.

If nothing else, even if you dislike him, he's unquestionably one of the better strikers we've had in the past 15 years.

Be great if he can beat last years tally, i don't mind strikers who appear to be lazy but do what counts when he has the chances.

You can probably add another 10 years before that as well mate. Cottee hit double figures a couple of times, Rideout got 12 once and Stuart hit double figures but we didn't have anyone during the 90 ' s who we could call a genuine quality slotter.

Love him, boss player, true world class potential, more so than Ross and Stones imo.
Tough to say, but I think Stones is a bigger prospect than Rom, could see Stonsey playing for the real big boys of the world if he progresses like he is ala Bayern and Madrid whereas I can't see Rom going that far. But it's amazing to think we have 3 players who have outstanding potential. And that's without even considering Besic, McCarthy and even possibly Garbutt in a sense.

He's scored 26 goals in 58 games so far for us. When you consider the lack of service and the amount of time we spend in the opposition final third this is an outstanding return.

Leave the lad alone, if he stays with us for any length of time he will become one of our leading all time scorers, without doubt.

Spot on. A record of 1 goal every 2 games is usually the marker of a very good top striker, and he's virtually averaging that.
