I think not. He's excellent number 2 but if we want to fight CL places we need better and higher calibre keeper.

With a well-drilled and fully functional defence in front of him, Senor Robles could be good/very good number one keeper.

You'd hope, but then again Shaqiri thought differently. Obviously he's foreign and stuff, but I'm not sure, maybe Butland will like to stay there and wait for his "big 4" transfer, rather than push for one now, seeing as he's signed a contract as well.

We need a keeper, though....would you risk it and buy crap keeper (number 2.)?

Get a young one from the academy/anyone else's academy as Joel's #2? I know it's a risk if Joel ever gets injured, but still.

Not really if it's a younger keeper from a Championship side or something similar, so he can get experience in the Cups and so on though?

RM has a good eye for a player.
I thought David Moyes was good... and he was, but I think RM is better.
There is no doubt they have been scouting goalkeepers for a long time now.

Begovic is turd, and in no way an improvement over Joel though. Overhyped if anything.

Surely that's not putting any trust in our actual academy lol

Begovic isn't really an improvement is what I meant. Butland would be better/same as Joel, but still, if we manage to get our defence to actually defend, Joel will do a good job himself and we'd just need a #2, and you can get good solid ones from abroad/Championship who are willing to be that #2. There's no chance in hell Butland coming over and becoming a benchwarmer, likewise for Begovic or any of the names involved here, and it would be extremely harsh on Joel to put him back on the bench after he played about 20 games for us in 2 years and looks decent himself.
