Everton's 25

As some of you will know all Premier League clubs must register a squad of 25 players on September 1st this season.

Eight players in every team must be home grown, meaning they must have been trained in the country for three years before they were 21.

This leaves teams like City and Chelsea in a lot of bother as some of you may have read, but I just wondered where it leaves us.

Goalkeepers: Howard, Mucha, Turner = 3

Defenders: Hibbert, Baines, Yobo, Heitinga, Distin, Jagielka, Neville, Coleman, Duffy = 9

Midfielders: Bilyaletidinov, Arteta, Cahill, Pienaar, Osman, Fellaini, Rodwell, Wallace = 8

Strikers: Saha, Yakubu, Anichebe, Vaughan, Beckford, Gueye, Agard, Baxter, Joao Silva = 9

This is the first team squad as listed on the official website, 29 players overall.

We can only have 25 so who would be your squad of 25 for September 1st to January 1st (as that date will be the next time players can be registered)

Don't forget to include your 8 home grown players!

all under 21
if i'm right they don't need to be registered
giving us 22 of which 9 are "home grown"

so we could take on another three on loan from another team that is really screwed by this rule

Players who are 21 and under dont need to be in the list of 25 players submitted as we can play an unlimited amount. We have:

RB Seamus Coleman - 21
CB Shane Duffy - 18
CB Shakordan Mustafi - 17
LB Luke Garbutt - 17
LB Jake Bidwell - 17
DM Jack Rodwell - 19
CM James Wallace - 18
LM Magaye Gueye - 20
AM Jose Baxter - 18
ST Joao Silva -20
ST Kieran Agard - 20

who wont be included in the list of 25 players. The rest of the squad fills up around 20-21 slots.

sorry he was born two months too early and will have to be registered, from what I understand
must be under 21 as of the 1st jan 2010

This is why i love GOT. A nice civilized discussion getting to the bottom of things. Good work people.

Presumably players can be added in January?

What a load of utter pish that is.

Pointless, unless the point is to wind up City, in which case, nice one.

I don't think you can add, just swap, say if injuries have blighted your squad, you could take the injured of the list and replace with fit players bought or more likely loaned in.

Arry is even bigging up the loans, when you see the squad size Utd, Chelsea and City have - they will all be looking to get players of their wage bill, who arent playing.

man u are in a better position than the other two cos SAF" youth policy lotsa homegrown

From the OS:

This season the Premier League has introduced a new rule whereby Clubs will name a 25-man squad for the first part of the season.

The list must be finalised on 1 September 2010, after the summer transfer window has closed.

Managers will then draw their squads from this 25-man party, which can not be changed until the January transfer window.

The rules state that the squad must contain at least eight ‘home-grown' players, with that term meaning they have spent three years at an English or Welsh club between the ages of 16 and 21.

The 25-man squad can be supplemented by any player who was under 21 years of age on 1 January this year.

The papers are claiming that the new rules will have a big effect on the likes of Manchester City who have an expensively assembled international squad.

evertonfc.com has examined the current squad and discovered that the Blues are comfortably within the Premier League parameters.

Comfortable in all departments then, even with the loss of Gosling.

What is the fine print with a player like Reo Coker/Ian Wright who failed the cut at pro level and played sunday league then got snapped up?
