Surprised us, or some other English clubs weren't in for this lad. Seems a real talent
City made it clear he wouldn't be allowed to go to any other English club. Unfortunately for us and everyone else.

...that’s the fella.
Under 15 got to the final of the Premier league International tournament. Lost final 2-1 to Chelsea. Great sign though as the likes of Benfica were in it.
Our results
Everton 4 - 1 Liverpool
Everton 2 - 2 Benfica
Everton 2 - 0 Derby
Semi final we beat Boro (who topped a group with Man City / Arsenal / Hertha Berlin)
Lost final 2-1 against Chelsea.
Had to qualify against all other Category 1 academy teams to take part in this tournament. I believe this age group are the same that won a few of these tournaments over the last few years so we seem to have another consistently good batch coming through.
Sancho scored two and made one , went for £10 mill apparently...yep, watched 20mins of the first half before I had to go out. Good movement, lad on the left side a box of tricks (from what my son says he’s with a German side).
He's already been on Dortmund's bench this season. They only let him go for the group stages then they will be recalling him. He'll likely get plenty of first team football I think.Sancho scored two and made one , went for £10 mill apparently.
Yeah these 14/15/16 age groups can be confusing for us outsiders who do not see them actually play. It seems all three age groups are doing well and some players may be playing up an age. There was a Youdan Tournament late July/early August where the u16 reached the final , the u14 didn't do so well but had the player of the tournament and also the leading goalscorer with 10 goals. Since then two of those then u14s have been picked in an England u15 training squad of about 50 people. I'm not sure if they've naturally moved up an age group on 1 September or playing up an age. So it could be Julys u14s now playing u15s or at least some of them. To put our 2-1 defeat in the u15 people in perspective Chelsea have 8 u15s in the England squad, and between them and City have regularly won this u15 tournament recently, so not a bad result despite the defeat. The club keep their names and achievements pretty much under the radar and I'll respect that, but a few names are starting to appear regularly . A long long way to go but it's always nice to read of these youngsters doing well.I heard the 14s were very strong. The person passing on the info may have had it confused or it may be we have 2 strong year groups!
Decent Welsh players in the 16s too.

That sounds great mate. City and Chelsea are very dominant at youth level though have struggled to turn that into first team players. I wonder if they are increasingly liable to lads Doug what Sancho did in the summer and moving clubs at 16-19 for minimal fees?
I think the string age group was under 13 last season. The last 2-3 years have been a bit sparse but good to see the ones coming up look stronger.
As with all things though you can still get players. Feeney and Beni look like they have a chance of doing OK in spite of being in a weaker age group.
One thing that has surprised me is that we have a couple of foreign players at U13/U14/U15 level. One French player we got from PSG recently starred for us in a tournament. Can't believe we are actually recruiting players (i.e paying for them to join our academy) so not sure if they happen to have moved to England anyway and just joined that way.
Sadly mate I fear those days are now over and you need outstanding strength throughout your squad to win the FA Youth Cup or even reach the final. Chelsea have won the last four beating Man City in the last three finals, that says it all. I watched last year's two legged final and Chelsea were outstanding in winning the 2nd leg 5-1, the gap between them and City and our u18s was simply huge. As has been often said, their routes to the first team are limited at both City and Chelsea so players like Sancho, Chalobah, Solanke etc move on, but their big attraction remains that both clubs have excellent Acadamies and can attract and develop the best players at a young age...a little disappointing we’ve not had an impact on the FA Youth Cup for a number of seasons. Whether you have a decent group (Osman, Hibbert, Dunne et al) or an outstanding individual (Rooney), a team can reach the final. It’s very prestigious and I have always thought it’s a real indicator of one or two special players.
