Liverpool had us pegged back for much of the game so it was hard for us to advance up the pitch. A few times we found the out ball to Gordon and Hornby. However, no clear cut chances whatsoever, apart from the goal.

..whilst it's good to have a decent side, it's all about finding one every few seasons. Let's not forget, the U23s will be supplemented each season by "6 or 7 signings", so only a few of the homegrown will come through.

Strange to take off our 2 best attacking players at same time like that. I know hornby coming back from injury but no reason for Gordon to come off. I doubt they'll be involved with u23s next game.
