Everton Youth Teams Thread

That will be a strange one as he has left us but cant sign for them. Would he come back after what has happened and would we want to take him back. What if he decides he still wants to join City after the ban?

he cant ever join their academy from my reading of it so they'll have to sign him as a pro.

Generally a club won't take them back as they try to make an example of them to put others off doing the same in future.

He'll probably just train with City, play non academy program fixtures which are most weeks domestically and play in tournaments abroad before signing for them as soon as the ban or 18 month period is up from when he left us.

Unless there's a specific clause to this lad as MM has said above.

“As a result of the club’s breaches, the players’ registrations will be terminated on a specified date, with no compensation rights retained by the club, and the club will not be permitted to re-register them as Academy players.

He's only 11 so he isnt going to stick around in the hope the sign him in 5 years.

Im assuming then that as he probably wo t come back here and City cant sign him, then another club will snap him up.

Everton u18s play there 6th and 2nd last tier 2 league game at home to Norwich today with an 11am am ko,they are looking for there 2nd win in tier 2 after not winning, and been winless in 2months since the 1st game, the last game v spurs in the rearanged game is on tuesday with an 11am ko

Been reading the Manchester City forum on their ban.

Found the post below a bit odd given that the only two young British players currently playing for City's first team come from the youth setups of QPR and Barnsley whilst Deli Alli (Milton Keynes Dons) has just won young player of the year.

Whilst I think Everton have a good academy and a history of producing players that get into our team, different setups will suit different kids and perhaps "roughing" it at one of the lower league clubs academies might teach kids a hunger that they just don't get at one of the premier league academies?

But it doesn't work like that... a smaller club does not improve your chance at making it, you'll get first team football sooner but a much poorer football education which will stand you in better stead in the long run? I know which I'd choose anyway. You've not really explained why Oldham would be better than Manchester City... it's really not you only think it is, you have to be careful equating first team football at a much lower level sooner with a poorer footballing education is better than the best education you can get with a team of professionals that will find you a club for first team football should you not make the first team.

At the end of the day the kid from Oldham would be much less likely to make it to the level required at City that's a fact and a major flaw in your reasoning, just because a lad from our academy doesn't make the first team doesn't mean he's failed completely he'll still be at a higher level than the Oldham kid.
I read a few City fan comments, I found some a bit sad really , a shrug the shoulders, who cares attitude " It was only a matter of time before we got caught out." , comments about the owners probably sanctioning the actions. A whole new thread to go down there of "success v losing your soul" !

I did agree with the bit about getting a poorer footballing education at the smaller clubs, and you would have to believe that a Class 1 Academy and club like ours would be better at improving players. The recent development of Stones, Holgate and DCL this season would seem to support that. While maybe DCL has still to fully prove himself , his development in the past 8 months has been startling, from £1.5 mill U23s player to starting in the PL. It will be interesting to see just how much we can improve on the raw, erratic but exciting talents of Bassala Sambou.

they only joined us and 18/19, do you really think they would have that much better if they had been at a higher level academy up to then?

Think you've missed my point mate, I don't know how they'd have been cos that didn't happen. But what I can say happened is that the three of them joined us , a higher level Academy / club with what I believe are better coaches , facilities, and made rapid progress. As I said " you'd have to believe that a Class 1 Academy and clubs like ours would be better at improving players."

For the U23s game, Upper Bullens, Park End and Lower Gwladys all now sold out.
Upper Gwladys and Paddock have been opened but not many left in either.

Only stand not open at this point is the Main Stand, but that is likely to be opened on the night (maybe not the Top Balcony, but the middle of the main stand and the Family Enclosure) for anyone arriving on the night without a ticket (they'll still need to get one before the game).

If everyone who has a free ticket at this point actually attends on the night, the crowd will be circa 20-25,000, maybe more if the main stand is opened.

Very impressive for a U23s game.

Oh, I agree the general standard of teaching is likely to be better but Barnsley academy have produced two players regularly getting games in the Premier league and as far as I am aware City despite all their resources have none.

Perhaps making it in the premier league isn't just based on a lads footballing technique but also on other factors such as early game time in none youth team games - all of those you mentioned had that early exposure as did Delli Alli?

Would be interested in seeing where all the premier leagues domestic u21 players originated from - onthe face of it appears that going to a smaller academy for the early years and then getting polished by Everton/Spurs/Liverpool might give a player more chance of success than going to City/Chelsea for your entire development.
