Everton Youth Teams Thread

An entertaining first half. As well as their experienced players like Zouma and Van Hinkel their team is full of talented youth internationals like Sterling, Tomori, Jay DaSilva , Mason Mount and Chalobah. These are the games we need at this level competitive matches against well organised teams with talented individuals.

I'm not watching the game
Who's been the better team? and our stand out performers
Thanks in advance

Everton have been the better side in my opinion - Walsh and Davies our standouts - Kieran Dowell's form a concern? Only seen this season's televised U23 games and he's been poor in each one.

We went behind to a cracking goal from Dujon Sterling, and took a wee while to settle down. Then we started to get on top and I would say dominated the lady 20 minutes of the half. We played some good football just found it difficult to break down an organised defence , but good interplay between Henen and Charsley allowed Charsley to curl the ball in with his left , may have deflected off a defenders head.
Walsh has looked good involved in most things, Davies too has come more into it and playing well. Feeney looking good at the back , covering and blocking well.2nd half now , a good game.

Some really talented kids but dowell from being in and around the first team looks to have really lost his mojo, just been subbed, duffus on!
He's been a real disappointment this season. He could provide genuine competition to Barkley in the 10 role but as you say has totally lost his way this season. Maybe he is trying to hard to impress, feel sorry for the lad.

u23s end 1-1 and that keeps everton 2nd,1 point behind Man city u23s
Everton u23s v man city u23s is the next league game in 3 weeks time, before then the u23s play Norwich friday night in the prem league cup,and Blackpool next week in the EFL CUP

A good competitive match that, I would say we shaded it but few chances for either team in 2nd half , Kenny had our best chance but leaning back he put it over the bar. Thought we lost a bit of impetus when Walsh went off injured, but Davies stepped up a gear and was probabably our best player, looking at him you could see how he would fit in to a first team squad both in style and physicality.

Our defence was pretty solid throughout and I thought all four played well, Connolly was solid enough and as the youngest in our team Feeney looked very composed , read the game well moved forward to intercept at the right times. It was an interesting comparison watching him and Chelsea's Chalobah who I thought was their best player. Feeney and him played the CB roles together for England u17s about 6 months ago , Chalobah is much bigger and physical and has moved up to U19s, Feeney u 18s. It will be interesting to see how Feeney develops physically, a bit more growth and weight needed I think.

It was good to see Robinson back fully fit and continuing to improve at LB , he continued where he left off against the RS, bombing down the wing delivering crosses, though not always with great accuracy. I think he's going to have a future somewhere but hard at this stage to say he's first team material when you compare him with Galloway and Garbutt when they played LB. Matty Foulds came on for Walsh, I wonder where he's been . He played in midfield and while he struggled to make an impact I thought he showed good skills , control and another with a good left foot.
I agree with comments about Dowell , maybe it's a confidence thing but doesn't look as sharp as he did towards the end of last season.
