....B teams might well be the way forward. If there is a change, though, it could be more along the lines of the old open age Central League where youngsters can mix it with seasoned professionals. I know older players can turn out for the U21s but if the likes of Robles, Hibbert, McGeady and Gibson were playing regularly it could be beneficial for youngsters and let us better judge their worth.

.....I think it was lots to do with youngsters not getting a chance because teams were loaded with senior players who could no longer get a game in the first team. I remember Sammy Lee was coaching and picking himself to play in the reserves at the Pool, there were a few promising youngsters unhappy because they couldn't get a game ahead of him.

......no, he was playing for the youth teams in the Lancashire League. Good footballer, if I remember rightly his brother was also on our books but might have that wrong. I think the family are entrepreneurs and run a business from Aigburth Vale.
