Everton Youth Teams Thread

It’ll be intriguing to see the 90 sec of highlights , I’m assuming that Clarke played in the striker role with Wren / Stewart out wide . From that bench it looks like those three are in for the full 90 mins .

Speaking to evertonfc.com after the match, Under-18s head coach Keith Southern praised his side's performance at Thorp Arch, and hailed Clarke's display despite playing in a less familiar role.

"The lads played really well," Southern said. "They scored some excellent goals, showed some real moments of quality, but there's lots of things we can get better at.

"Seve actually had to make a lot of saves in the game, it was that type of end-to-end transitional match. We were deserved winners, but our goalkeeper did have to make some saves at key moments in the game.

"We played Justin in a slightly different position today. We played him as a number 9, which was a different challenge for him. He responded really well, he was energetic, he was lively. In truth, he probably could have had certainly one, if not maybe two more, such were his quality around the box.

"His finishing was good, I think the keeper made a couple of saves from him, but, overall, really, really pleased with him. I thought he equipped himself really well in a new position so it's positive moving forward for him."

…..people in the Middle East don’t like The Flintstones but for some reason the folk in Abu Dhabi do.

And they had a 14 year old scoring twice on his debut utd seem to have some serious talent com through
The 14 year old is unbelievable, first heard about him when he was 9 years of age. Nike signed him to a contract in 2021.... His father changed his name to make him more marketable.... His father Joe O Cearbhaill was an ex Irish international for a brief period. Every major club in Europe has made him an offer....

One of his goals has been given as an OG, so just the hat trick in the end. Southern also confirms that he was playing as the centre forward.

Premier League have awarded him all 4 goals.

Also confirms the sub as Luke Forsyth, goalkeeper.

I watched Clarke’s goals on the OS , it certainly looked like he swept the third goal in but difficult to tell conclusively as the defender was right behind him, the arc of the ball suggested a strike by Clarke. Haven’t seen any joking cries of “ get him in the first team “ so far , but he shows something Beto hasn’t yet, the ability to score with both feet.

Might be an easier argument to get him in the team over Jack Harrison.

And to clarify, I am not at all suggesting this. I do like him though, he's the most enjoyable player to watch in the u18s this year for me. Might just be showing my bias for fast, tricky attackers. Hopefully this performance is a reaction to his pretty poor u21 debut, a refocusing perhaps.

….i thought he was also poor in the U18 test event, the Wigan full-back had him easily in his pocket but I’d put that partly down to him wanting to impress. I’m sure that game was a big lesson and might have just brought him down a peg or two.

Keith Southern was full of praise with his central striker performance, they must be thinking that could be the way to go. I’d like to see the goals, encouraging from @blueloon that he’s comfortable on both sides, just hoping he’s also composed in his finish.

Presumably there’s a couple or more u15s in there. Hopefully we can get some squad numbers too to put names on faces, although 4 of them are becoming quite familiar having had more exposure than we usually give to our u16s.
Agreed, it's very refreshing to know so many of this squad already. My face radar has Amari Moses back left, Nsangou just in front of him, Gospel-Eze 2 to the right. Ray Robert right in the middle, Billington 2 to his right.
