Everton Youth Teams Thread

Just no patterns of play or ideas. Felt like I was going mad how many times they tried that clipped ball from Patrick into Morgan. 4-2-4 just isn't viable at any level.
The first half there was no left winger at all just van schoor putting in hopeful low balls into the box. And the right side was just Clarke fall8ng over his feet with no right back support at all. As for the centre midfield with not enough numbers to get a foothold it was just a mish mash of players who didn't have any clue in what they were meant to do in building a platform to play from. Seems the youth set ups need some changes and better ideas

Yeah we do need better youth coaches, like even baines is still pretty new to it (with moyes now) it should be implemented to play with same style is the first time obviously different quality players but still my take is should play same formation as first team with similiar press and play style

Totally agree, why we don't look at successful academies like Ajax and the way they have their teams all playing the same way I'll never understand. Hopefully with the Friedkin Group they will look into the long term instead of Moshiri's scattergun approach

I cant remember who it was but im pretty sure one of our previous managers made it happen, maybe carlo? and then we took away 90% atleast of the training for the unders..

Could of been Carlo though I never associate him as a long term vision kind of manager, he wouldn't even give Gordon any game time so he was pretty much a results now kind of manager

Problem is we change manager that often, the first team does not have any particular style of play and hasn't for donkeys

I've never been sure on the playing the same way argument. Yes there are certain things we want to do well across all levels but I think we want our first team to be able to play more than one way.

Lots of managers fail at the top level because they either don't know how to adapt or don't want to adapt.

I think it's more about improving individual players at that level than a specific system.

Yep Plymouth all over again , talented players outnumbered in midfield and stuck to the same formation too long, whereas in the Baines days we were flexible and changed formation mid match.
Know it was for the greater good but it does feel like losing Baines mid-season was a real setback for those lads who were going really well under him.
