Everton Youth Teams Thread

A strong assumption tonight’s friendly in the new stadium won’t be streamed
Pathetic really as most people would watch because of the stadium and the historic occasion rather than the teams playing. As the majority won’t have seen an u18 game or know the players I’m expecting comments like “Sunday league standard” “ Get that ginger kid into the first team , he was everywhere, it felt like there were two of him at times “

Would be nice to see some of these guys get some time on the run in especially as we will be easily mid table. I`ve always thought that we`d be in a better position to attract promising young players that would be ready for first team games if we were seen to give lads that come up through our own system time on the pitch when we get a chance to.
Agree with this, but i cant really think of anyone available at the moment that hasn't put in the hard work to bin off to give any of them the minutes.

You look at even some of the older players like Young, he's contributed massively this season, even when out of the team and only coming off the bench, he is playing cheerleader/motivator etc. I've become pretty fond of him.

You could argue that Sheriff could pick up some minutes if we are safe in a game to give Beto some respite.

Bracing for 10000 “I’d have him in the team Saturday, couldn’t be any worse than Jack Harrison” shouts the minute Justin Clarke skins a lower league academy child.

I think there`ll be a few games this season here we could pop one of the young lads on for 20 minutes. Best time to give a lad some game time when we are on a good run and full of confidence.

Yeah the difference between u18 and first team is so huge for Clarke at this stage in his development as emphasised by the 1-0 loss in the Youth Cup . It would be harsh to blame Clarke for the defeat, but him trying to dribble across our penalty area instead of hoofing the ball away led to the penalty they scored from.
It’s positive though that many more are being exposed to “ training with the first team” .

….and I think Clarke was around the first team for a bit at Wimbledon but as you say, the step up to men’s football is considerable, never mind PL.
