Indeed , the touches of Simms, Iversen and Adeniran in that one move were better than anything they or the whole team produced in 90 mins against Chelsea. Similarly one through pass from John to Dobbin and a sublime chip from him which didn’t quite come off were also better than anything we produced against Chelsea. None of them look ready yet for the next stage up , but it’s almost impossible to judge how good or bad these kids are at the moment.

Yeah Dobbin has something different from Gordon, Simms, DCL, Mampala . Being good at 17 of course doesn’t guarantee success , but we really need to start converting promising 17 year olds like him Branthwaite and Onyango into 1st team squad players.

Branthwaite and Onyango seem to have the physique and will only get bigger...got to be helpful when looking at mens football.

Well Carlo used Branthwaite and Kyle John in the Gomes game. It’s hard to tell what that meant, but Branthwaite could be considered as our 4th choice CB at the moment , maybe he’d never be risked in the PL so young , maybe he’s an injury and a Keane red card away from the 1st team who knows. Realistically he’s a 17 year old with a lot to learn who‘s two years younger than Lewis Gibson the next in line ..... until we buy another CB in the summer.
