A penalty shoot out away from absolute meltdown or cup euphoria. I've never known a managerial more on a knife edge with the fans than this one. For what it's worth that was still a really poor performance against a poor side but the like sof United and Liverpool have been doing that in cups for ages.

We keep on doing this the hard way but with Chelsea and Arsenal jist tumbling out I really don't care.

Personally I thought we had more than enough good chances in the game to deserve a victory. Onwards.

Hahaha.

But lad, I am sat here laughing. It's not that bad. Don't worry about me. I will just tell it like it is. If they play rubbish I will give my opinion. If they play well I will praise them. Simple really. Or at least to me it is.

Utter tripe but we're through. Let that be a lesson for overconfidence. This is Everton and when we're crap, we're really crap.

Ratings

Robles - 7 - Shaky at first but better as the game went on and easily man of the match. Hopefully he starts instead of Captain America on Sunday.
Browning - 5 - Not particularly bad, but just average. The lad isn't a full back and it showed again tonight. Will be a very good CB though.
Stones - 6 - Not his best game but he was pretty much tasked with being our playmaker tonight.
Funes-Mori - 6 - Solid at the back, but nobody in our defence can clear a ball. Nobody.
Oviedo - 6 - Didn't get forward too much but wasn't bad considering it's his first game in two months.
Gibson - 5 - Very poor first half, looked better at CB! Good penalty.
McCarthy - 6 - Equally dismal first half. Really improved when Barks came on.
Koné - 3 - Dreadful.
Osman - 5 - Always reliable for a scrappy goal. Average overall.
Mirallas - 5 - Quiet and then livened up towards the end. Good assist for the goal and really should have scored - needs a goal for confidence.
Lukaku - 5 - Missed two really good chances and was quiet throughout but stepped up when it mattered in the shootout.

Del - 6 - Sparked us into life but got less effective as it went on.
Barks - 6 - Same as Del.
Naismith - 5 - Did what was asked of him and did it well enough.

Martinez - 5 - One change too many to start of with I think.

once again,we had to go a goal down,to then bring the subs on,that changed the whole game for me,played a lot better after going behind, thankfully none of those good chances for us cost us in the end,and not getting the pen we should have had when lukaku s shirt is getting pulled
It just showed that the team he put out was not good enough so why do it?

Made up we're through. But what a meal we make of things! Really want us to win this Comp. Lay some ghosts to rest and actually lift a trophy!!!
