Hopefully Martinez motivates the players like the did when Wigan thrashed us in the cup, if he can do that then I think we'll win.

Provided Howard doesn't turn into captain flaptastic and Martinez doesn't do something stupid like play Kone and McGeady I think we'll be okay.
-Howard isn't playing tonight- Honest mate. Honest, he isn't.

As far as the other 2 are concerned, I couldn't guarantee anything but I'd bet real money that McGeady won't play. And I imagine Kone won't either.
I'm not betting real money on that last one though.

I remember the game where we beat City 1-0 a few years back, Gibson scored. That was January too, albeit towards the end of the month.

Everyone was grouchy because of our form, the place was only about two thirds full - partly because we were crap and partly because the weather was awful.

Jelavic was presented at half time and some Kopite tied himself to a goalpost because the Ryanair CEO supports Man City (honestly).

We went out and hounded them, and despite all the obviously empty seats (probably the most disappointing league crowd in years) the place was properly bouncing - even before the goal.

We loaned Pienaar in that night as well.

My main point is that we kicked on that night, finished the season really well (despite falling apart against the RS at Wembley) and that was definitely the turning point.

If we are all properly up for it we can make an atmosphere like that again, and if the place is rocking like that then I've no doubt we can beat them comfortably.
Barry discusses that night at length in today's Guardian. Precisely the same reading as yours and that's from one of the players on the field. You should read it. The Goodison crowd can make a huge negative or positive difference. Commentators and players constantly reference it and we must be one of the only grounds where home players negatively interact with crowd such is the intensity. My niece talks about her first experience going to Goodison: she couldn't believe the rage and says (paradoxically) it was the most amazing sporting experience of her life. Got to make it a bear pit.

IF Martinez picks a lineup that the crowd is excited about.....Goodison will be rocking tonight ! I think if Besic plays and Mirallas or Lennon get the nod over Kone....he will get it right!

Coleman Mori Stones Baines
Del Barry Besic Lennon or Mirallas
