Ooooooh.

I tell you what, the scouse youth quadruple have looked good tonight. McAleny, Rodders, Vic and Barkley.

Again, not hitting the target, was a tough angle for Billy granted but even so.

Good header from Cahill though couldn't have done anything more there though, good defending.

I accept that Cahill is limited. I really can't imagine a situation though where we could say that we can do without his 10 goals a season. Is Beckford capable of another 5-10 to help make up the difference? Can Ossie go from 4 goals during a campaign to 10?

I could, but it wouldn't be given a go.
Either he plays as an out and out target man striker, or not as a midfielder imo.
Yes, Beckford (and the supposed second striker) can score 10 more, with someone providing him with assists or at least passes that put him in good positions. Cahill doesn't offer that - he offers team spirit (so to say), goals from set pieces/crosses (which don't work against every opposition, although when he's on the field we try and do ONLY that).

Can it now, this is the most stupid argument to be had.

Billy hits the crossbar.

That's a good point. If your midfield protects the defense better by keeping the ball better, you don't need to score those ten extra goals because you let less in.

Cahill's presence doesn't make our defence any less effective. He was a key player when we used to nick games 1-0.
