Tbf that's not the type of player he is so it'd be pointless shoe horning him there when we have the likes of : Barkley, Pienaar, Naismith, Mirallas, who all can / play there.

Nope. Don't think Gibson, McCarthy OR Besic could play there. It's not there role, even if they're good at passing and stuff it doesn't mean they'd be good in that position, especially since it's a totally different way of playing.
It's like when Baines got played LM. He wasn't as good because it's just too different.
Tomorrow will be interesting . The friendlies are getting a little less friendly and a little more serious as the new season approaches.
We will see what youngsters are being seriously looked at for the first team. Duffy in particular, wasn't used on Sunday and if he isn't used tomorrow night then I think it's over for him.
Personally, I think Chris Long has pushed himself forward, maybe past McAleny. Other than that , Garbutt is ready but probably nobody else.

I really hope Lukaku or Mirallas play tomorrow. As much as Naismith hasn't done anything wrong and I quite like the lad, I'm a bit bored of him this pre-season now
Think Browning has made the cut as well - Martinez said 2 out of the 6 had. Those two were always the most likely since they did some training with the first team last year.

Lukaku and Kev aren't even back in training until the 7th!
By the time the season starts they won't have played football for 6 weeks. How on earth are they going to be match fit?
Behind closed door friendlies and i'm sure they will have kept up with training when they've been away!
