Everton v Wimbledon

I can't remember if it was Cottee or Snodin doing a sportsman's dinner years ago and mentioned that Fashanu was in the tunnel after the game high fiving all the Everton players and seemed in very good spirits considering they had just been beaten. It was a dinner my mate went to a couple of years back and mentioned it.

Does anyone have any proof that game was fixed ?
Have heard lots of stories and know all about the coach hotel stuff
But is there anything else or was it just a good comeback
It wasn't fixed.

It was not one of the games under scrutiny in court.

Seeing their coach was set alight before the game I would imagine it was relief that they could slip out without further hassle!

Personally i was in the stadium that day and i've never thought the match was fixed. i'll always remember when their second went in, the ground went stony silent and the Wimbledon players seemed to look at each other. If silence could ever forewarn a massive violent reaction to follow then that was it and i think it would've been extremely ugly afterwards.

When i think about that game it reminds me of when Utd used to go to play Galatasaray.

But worse when the 2nd goal went in...just total silence around the ground like the calm before the storm. Their players must have been intimidated and Holdworth as mentioned was really snatching at chances.

In no way was that game fixed and @Rsoles whats the reason for your username?

I like it why is that a problem ?

IIRC Fashanu counted all the Wimbledon players off the pitch at the final whistle - think you can see him doing it on the highlights footage.

....I don't remember it being legally proven but my own personal view is that a number of players were affecting the results of games around that time. I have previously posted comments made to me many years ago about the famous Derby match that ended 4-4. Watching that back, it does make you wonder.

Maybe that's why Dalgliesh packed in his job the next day, because he wasn't in on it. !!!!!
