The fault in that goal was simply no defenders on the posts. Goalie could do nothing about that.
And McCarthy was day dreaming when Rondin made his run.

the way the game was today, baines probably should have came on for Oviedo - the theory of oviedo starting as he is better defensively and faster was mute as our lb was basically playing as a winger all game, get the player on who can create
I'll just say this.
Everybody but Rom played well in the first 11.
Kone came on because he draws attention away from Rom and in the past they worked well together. He offers a better presence in the box. It is the very definition of a Plan B. If you don't recognize that I don't know what to say.
Osman came in because he has good ball control in and around the 18. Kev is better in the break where he can use his pace.
maybe taking Lennon off could be criticized but Gerry was providing good service as well. Sometimes you don't get the luck. It's not like we played crap. Frustrated yes but not like stoke last season where we played absolute garbage
Oviedo and Barry provided decent balls from the left and Oviedo was basically playing as a wide mid as soon as Kone came in because we had all of the ball.
Barkley didn't finish well. He basically was in on goal alone and skied it. Our finishing was far more the problem than anything to do with the manager.
I'd argue that Kone breaks down more attacks than he helps and the opposition don't consider him a danger.I'll just say this.

We were bad but if PULIS ever came near Everton, I would start watching crown green bowls.
Horrible anti football spoiling negative tactic [Poor language removed]
Yep probably agree.
My main criticism with Martinez would probably be he lacks a 'Plan B' when he needs it in a game.
I think he's brilliant at setting up a team from he start if you know what I mean (e.g. Stoke last week being completely different to Newcastle), but does lack when he needs to change a game/style to get through.
That being said, we still created loads, but it just seemed destined that we weren't going to score - that's down to the attackers on the field.

He is too insistent on keeping the shape and seems to almost pre plan what substitutes he has in his mind going into a game and doesn't deviate depending on the style of the game
To be fair, that's exactly the kind of goal people have been slaughtering Howard for all season. Caught in no man's land on a cross into the six yard box and ends up falling into the goal after being wrong footed. Doesn't mean we need to put Howard back into the side or anything -- it's going to take much worse than that to make that worthwhile -- but just a bit of perspective.Get out of Howard's ringpiece mate, Joel played okay and wasn't at fault for that goal
