You don't keep central in that situation though. You protect the near post. Look again at 0:41. That header was not hit 'bang central'...it is closer to the near post.

That goal is on Baines for not blocking the cross and Holgate being late and Lamela beating him to the ball.

You clearly don't know a thing about keeper positioning. A bit like @Joey66 who thinks a keeper should be rooted to their line when someone shoots from 30 yards.
Not rooted but not stood in no mans land like Timmy used too;)
Their goal was coming yesterday the first time we tried to pass our way out of defence and bang we concede!

Was in and out of the game so my big question how was the fans? Were they happier and no boos when players lost the ball?

All I wanted to see from the game yesterday was signs of progress from our horrific performances under Martinez, and that's what we got.

Koeman is clearly a pragmatist - sort out the defence first, get us solid at the back then build upon that.

Gueye and Barry were excellent - compliment each other's games well. Thought Jags was impressive too - he doesn't really suit being played in a back 3, but he did well.

First half nobody could have any moans, we worked hard and the 5 at the back the 2 holding midfielders made sure they couldn't play through us and also stopped the balls into Kane. We tended to play on the break or when we won the ball in midfield, it appeared to be get the ball forward quickly and use our pace.
The second half was about fitness but MP made an excellent substitution, he took Dier off and brought on Jansen. All of a sudden they stopped trying to play through us ans started going wider or hitting the forwards earlier. Once they started doing this we didn't really have an answer and I think most could see a goal coming, once it did come I was happy for the final whistle.
We had in some ways a threadbare team, so with fitness, and new signings we will improve and have the ability to adapt and change things through a game.

Good point and a hard fought performance

I also think it was specific to this fixture. Can't see us playing 3 at the back when Coleman is back and we are playing a fixture we expect to have the majority of the possession

Yeh we won't do mate.

Last year Koeman switched to a 3-4-1-2 at Southampton in the middle of the season as they had a sloppy start which saw them concede quite a bit.

To counter that he used this 3 at the back system and it worked - they kept 6 clean sheets in a row (of course Forster who had until then been injured helped). As soon as the 3 at the back system started to get figured out by the opposition, though, Koeman switched back, but it had done it's job and by that point they were well up the table.

Holgate ( and I'm going against the gaffer's and your opinion ) has every right to be pissed off with Baines and Barry in particular for letting that cross in. The cross was a better still pace bit could and should have been closed down.

The 2nd save by Stekkers ( deflected shot ) was immense wasn't it. Some folk say Southall like. I say more Martyn like ( as Nev was on another planet to anyone ) but certainly bodes well

Great point wasn't it mate.

Oh I agree on the cross mate - should have been stopped at source. However when it did come in it was a great ball and Lamela just reacted quicker too it. No blame attached, it happens. He'll learn.

Yeh it was a great save. Really happy with it. Game of too halves in a lot of ways - but it shows that we need something 'more' up top for a) in the first half we should have been 3-0 up and b) once they scored it was basically just backs to the wall defending.

Found it really interesting when in the presser afterwards Koeman said it showed we had mental strength not to cave. How he worded it was like a slight dig at RM. Do think he has been shocked just how unorganised and imbalanced we were when he joined us.

Point was a fair result - we should have taken our chances in the first half but Spurs played well in the second.

yep, the players are probably in a bigger mess than what he imagined when he joined. I fully expected us to crumble once they scored so I'm sure that would have pleased him the way we dug in.

Shocking lack of depth up top needs addressing asap doesn't it.

Honestly I think it was mainly fitness. Even at 100% we wouldn't have been able to keep th at pace up.
