Early days but I consider Arsenal the weakest out of the teams ahead of us from last season(discounted Burnley) and they’ve just gone 2 behind. We are going to need some teams ahead to have nightmares to improve on 6th, but it’s possible.

Ings should have been sent off for trying to take out Pickford, he was late and nowhere near the ball. He could have killed him!

Good performance, clear signs of sone players who've underperformed since arriving showing marked improvement, signs also that what the manager wants some players are adapting too already.

And Richarlison looks brilliant, throw in we still him aside are playing with the squad from last season and when the new guys get into the team it bodes well for the season.

Movement off the ball was improved. Naturally makes players fatigue quicker but opens up passing avenues and causes mayhem. High pressing is looking fruitful. Defence still dodgy but we look much more cohesive than we did under BFS. Can see things only getting better

Well the problem is that when Hughes used to play he never made a bad challenge or hurt anyone by intent or accidentally so by his high standards it must be a shock... lol

"It was not a particularly poor first-half and the second-half we got a goal back which was important. It was a very stop start game and the referee allowed it to be fragmented.

On goalscorer Danny Ings: "I am delighted he is off the mark and get the momentum building. His transition to be a Saints player will be very smooth."

On a late challenge by Pickford on Ings: "The keeper is lucky to stay on, he carries on with his boot. I am surprised the referee did not see that or it warrant any further punishment. It was a little bit like his [the referee's] performance.

Or a bit like sending your team out to boot the other team all over the place. We had them too easy in the first half and came out a wee bit blunt in the second. Otherwise, there was a lot to get excited about. Was disappointed with Walcotts miss, however last season we don’t get anywhere near making that chance or most of the others
