Never thought I would be saying this. But Roberto has a massive call to make over lukaku. Don't know if he is jaded or what, but kone has looked twice the player in his last two appearences. He has shown good movement, willingness to work hard and a great touch. All of which is sadly lacking from rom's game at present.
As for the game itself I am hoping the result not the performance will give us some confidence. Stones needs to be brought in ASAP at the expense of distin. I think this will not only improve our defending, but his ability on the ball and to move forward with it will allow more pace to our game. Will take a scrappy one nil win all day long on Saturday. We need to grind our results as our football at present isn't enough for us to win comfortably.

I'm happy with Romelu, as long as he keeps scoring we'll be OK.
He could have filled his boots against one of the worst sides we will play this year. He was completely awful for the whole 75minutes he was on, and if you don't agree with me fine but what about the fans inside the ground laughing at him.(embarrassment)

It hasn't been mentioned, but both our full backs were really disappointing yet again last night too. No drive whatsoever.

It feels that our defensive frailty early in the season has really effected Martinez's gameplan to the point where we're terrified of being out of position at any stage of play.
Teams are man marking our fullbacks now to counteract their threat.

Dream Team indeed.

That is rather quite astounding.

Fans laughing at him? Are you getting Lukaku mixed up with the streaker?

Honestly, would almost rather see Kone play WITH lukaku. Think he would work well. Its quite apparent the way we play Lukaku is generally wasted. Whats the point of playing with a lone striker who run onto the ball in order to succeed if you are going to treat him as a target man and ask him to hold play up? Kone/Eto'o can do that part quite well, let Lukaku do his thing.

I will say tho, he has not looked lively lately. Needs to start playing with belief.

To be clear I'm happy for his close control to be crap as long as he bangs in goals, that's what he's paid to do, and that's what he's doing as far as I'm concerned.

The distinction between Johnson/jelavic/Yakubu running the channels is their goals dried up!

Firstly, I think it's a bit rash to suggest anyone who disagreed with some of the booing last night is an 'unseasoned supporter'. Secondly, like it or not but our style of play demands having the ball, and it's a gradual process getting the players to play this way. By booing passing backwards you are not encouraging the players to play 'crisp passing' as many are saying here, you are encouraging them to panic and bang it up field. Where did that ever get us?

Yes, passing it back from the free kick wasn't great and is an easy example to pick up on, but I was referring to the end of the game.

But there has been no "crisp passing" this season. What worked last year is not working this year yet we still insist upon doing it.
The fact of the matter is we are not doing it when defending a lead but when chasing the game. It looks great when winning but when losing or even drawing to an average side (Hull being the last perfect example) passing back from promising situations is pointless as we do not then recycle the ball well enough to make it work in the next attack.

The very point you make "you are encouraging them to panic and bang it up field" , is actually wrong, no one is asking them to panic but just have a bit off belief and look for the forward pass after all, the goal they are attacking is in that direction!!
