My thoughts of last night;

1) won without playing well. 3 fortunate goals but they went in and i'll take them all day long.

2) Barkley deeper in midfield called a masterstroke, learning his trade etc. nonsence, we had no-one else fit to play that role. That is why he was there. It gave him scope to pass more which i did enjoy. And his goal is what our midfield has been lacking for years.

3) Besic- Legend. I've championed him since day one and although a better team may have outran him last night, i thought the hard tackles, the risks and the no half measures of his game is fantastic. Fast becoming my favourite everton player.

4) QPR are quite poor. They didnt impress me at all, bar for the first 20 minutes. They are struggling and you can see why pretty much.

5)Looking forward. We needed to win and there was no excuses to not do so, now we look to ther enst several weeks. This time last year we had a poor Jelavic and a burnt out Lukaku up front we faltered. This year we have Lukaku /Eto'o / naismith and even Kone as an option. If Martinez gets his tactics and subs right this can make a big difference to us as all offer something different.

6) Finally kev injured again. It is getting highly fustrating for me now and i am sure for him. He keeps coming in and starting to look like a top player then imjury hits again. If we kept him fit for a whole season, combined with the full backs we could be so much more creative. Piennar and McGeady arent the same and we will notice it next week.

BTW McGeady is still terrible.
Yes and he set up the important killer 3rd goal - unlike his substitute SP who came on and gave the ball away and was a complete night mare!

McGeady gets past defenders and puts good crosses into the box. Not every time, but often enough to make him worth his spot in the squad.

As a reserve player yes.

Remember our aim is not mid table, it is playing against the best in europe. I think a certai nteam proved what average players will get you.

Can you see McGeady honestly being good enough for us to progress in the champions league?

If you come accross me on here then you will know i am not a fan of Piennar whatsoever and would like to see him replaced rather than played.

But as someone else has said to me today over mcgeady, in the squad perhaps he is a decent player but not in the first choice pick category

I still think the team needs to get over its defensive frailties before it can really kick on. Last season, the back four was all but impermeable and that allowed the attack to be very fluid, almost instinctive. Now, because the defence is shaky, the play going forward has become tentative, with the players afraid to take chances lest they lose possession and the defence leaks a goal as a result.

I was going to add that he probably wouldn't be in a genuine top four Everton team, so, yes, I take your point.

Having said that, who should be right wing now, and who would you like to bring in?

ideally sign a winger. Look for the 24-5 year old bracket and then we have a ground to build from age wise. Perisic championed on here but i suppose the fact i had never heard of mirallas before we signed him means i am not going to complain about someone random.

Realistically a free transfer this window or at least in the summer ala McGeady. Cannot throw names out off the top of my head but slightly higher wages in comparison for no transfer fee is more up our street. People talkiing about Aweyu (spelling?) but in the mold of mirallas, a player who can play up front as well as out wide.

Amazing to think that nearly 18 years have passed since Richard Dunne made his debut for Everton (FA Cup vs Swindon 3-0 at Goodison 5th January 1997) - some of the legends he played with that day (and how far back their careers go (Watson, Southall etc.)

In fact thinking along those lines you can trace Everton careers back to Dixie in 6 or 7 steps - Sagar, Jones (and others), Labone, Lyons (or Kendall), Southall...

You're forgetting Claus Thomsen and Earl Barrett mate!
