6pm next Sunday: if we have 33 points on the board and passage to the EL QFs that would be an 'achievement' of sorts.

That has to be our objective this week. If we can reach that point on 35 it'd be more than we all would expect.

Genuinely don't think we'll get to the safe-before-final-game situation.

Cannot see how our form of a point a game is going to dramatically change to allow us a cosy run in.

Haha.

Seriously, I don't think we'll be smashing anyone in the next few games. Maybe towards the end of the season when we're safe and the pressure's off we'll beast someone.

If you were at the team meeting right now and you were asked to tell them your thoughts - what would you say?

I'm not. I embrace the challenge of this.

*channeling the Robertonian*
You embrace it then, the majority will have some degree of nervousness about losing a game we seriously need to take at least a point from.

if we lose martinez should hand in his resignation

Not quite for me.

QPR is the acid test regardless of today, as it's the "six pointer" - for example, if we won today but lost to QPR, it'd be much worse than losing today and beating QPR. He could survive with a Newcastle loss and a QPR win, although with little to no confidence in him from the fans moving forward.

If we take 1 point from the next two games, he's gone.

Is that it?

Not exactly Henry V like.

That's all they need to be told. Go and play your natural game like you did against Kiev for an hour.

And that's been Martinez's downfall - overdrilling them in a philosophy.

Just take the shackles off them and let a talented bunch of players play football. We can worry about long term philosophy when we're safe.

If you watched closely this season he's been telling them to pick the pace up. This goes back to the captain's armband issue for me. We dont have his voice on the pitch.
