I thought it was similar to the games of Moyes' reign where he went into the game looking to get a 0-0. God knows what Roberto would have done if we'd have gone a goal down, as I reckon he would have had absolutely no contingency plan.

To go into a derby game against your fierce rivals with no attacking intent whatsoever is appalling, in my opinion.

Yet had two of the best chances in the game to score, Naismith cocking up a piece of piss header in the 6 yard box and Coleman with a great chance towards the end

That is because he is a diabolical footballer. One four-game spell in his entire Everton career doesn't make him a good player, as some on here would have you believe.

Coleman ought to have buried it, but hey, he's not a striker and it was a great save.

That aside, we were a disgrace offensively.

As soon as the EFC teamsheet was announced I felt Bobby had picked a side to protect himself, the tactics, subs and performance that followed underlined that point. I don,t personally believe that the players or a section of our fanbase felt happy with the outcome and it appears the manager is in comeplete firefighting mode on a game by game basis.

Wed should be very intresting.

Completely agree, I think confidence is so low throughout the club though, that he was damned if he did, damned if he didnt. I dont expect a different lineup for Wednesday at all, with the exception of Lennon getting a bit more time. It looks like he's taking baby steps in getting the confidence back if that makes sense

I think this is a reflection of where we are this season though. Whoever's fault that is, we are very low on confidence and we are trying to get a bit of a run going on a game by game basis. We haven't conceded in 3 games now, which is a starting point to re-build on. I think we will get beat 1-0 at Chelsea on Wednesday but we are very capable of winning that game 1-0.

I remember when Royle first came to Everton, we were all over the shop and the first thing he did was sort of the defence out with a couple of 0-0's.

Absolutely spot on. Leicester at home we should look to be more offensive. Being more offensive but losing 4-1 or 4-2 on Wednesday would be back to square 1. I think Barkley for Naismith will be used as well. He was quite effective as a "false 9" when there was a bit more space in the game and we could get the ball up to him.

The game reminded me of derby matches in the mid-70's. I think there was a run of 4 consecutive games then which all finished 0-0 with hardly any chances created by either side.

Liverpool were not much better

Two average sides cancelled each other out imo

honestly though mate, I'm just glad martinez seems to have recognised that we do have a few issues and isn't just trying the same stuff that was failing, well, not all of it anyway, we may have to grind our way back to a bit of confidence

Don't blame Coleman for having a crack, but Lukaku had lost the RS centrebacks, & positioned himself for a tap in.

It was going in; deflected by the utterly wank Sakho

What beggars belief for me is RM saying it was an incredible game (his latest word, worn out phenomanel). Incredibly poor for heavens sake rubbish game. we showed very little interest of actually trying to win.
