He dished it out quite a bit, which in a way I liked, but it did make me think that I wonder if that's why he doesn't get decisions sometimes - the ref has it in his mind that its a bit of give and take

The lads did a good job of preventing him getting into the box.
But just as the defence was looking a bit ragged, compared to above, in waltzes the fairy.

Coleman tried to play at the ball one on one with Zaha.
Probably a poor move, def a bit of desperation
No clear connection with the ball, connected with standing leg, Zaha went down
Zaha won the contest > pen

The way to take the ball off Zaha is to have one man first playing the body, one man to mop up.
A lot easy to do outside the box.

It was a intriguing and fascinating battle.
And the lads did well up until the pen.
In the end - they has Zaha, we have Pickford!

What was frustrating was not being able to do it up the other end...for most of the game.

When you analyse Zaha's game, you need to look not just at the free-kicks he receives, but also the fouls he makes,. I counted at least 6 free-kicks to us, but no yellow card for continuous foul play. I have no problem with a forward who puts himself about, but he can't complain about getting fouled when he fouls so frequently himself.
 
Marvellous end to the game. So much happiness and joy on the players faces on the pitch after the final whistle. Bodes very well in terms of spirit. It is stating the obvious but, IMO, we are seeing the benefit of Jags and Baines out of the side for an extended period. What was stale has been replaced with energy, enthusiasm and confidence.

Your always going to get that from a crafty imp like him.
He's got to the point where he's playing on his stage, it his act, the ref is part of the cast.
Couldn't have been more contrasted when Lookman got his free, he starts playing the game and Coleman walks up, pat on the back, c'mon mate get up, 'that'll do pig' sort of thing. Zaha in his prime, Lookman with a long way to go.
 

Suspected they would be difficult. The defence well protected and organised, albeit with Sakho a liability.

As the game drew to a close, I thought we would at best get the draw.

But, credit to the manager for making changes and going for it.

Coleman and Walcott as a partnership are either going to on the same wavelength or not. Both are so unpredictable that it’s impossible for them to create a partnership.

It’s exactly the type of game we’ve struggle in for so long, I’m just hoping it’s not an anomally.

Onwards and upwards Blues. x
 
Can only expect Gomes to grow into that position and make it his own. Got to see some composure and sensible passing.

Can only get better, when he’s exposed to the players and adjusts to the system. x

True. as a big fan of both jags and Baines I have bemoaned the lack of character in this team, but liked the way they kept at it on Sunday. All of our subs were attacking ones too, which was telling in the end.

Only palace, but good signs.
 
Very glad we were able to get the win yesterday and very happy for the 3 subs that came on to do it for us. Its great to have those kind of options coming off the bench. Feel like we've been missing that for awhile now so good to see and helps boost the confidence of the squad as well.

Also... Forget his name and don't follow much premier league besides Everton, but that RB for Palace yesterday was brilliant in my opinion. Don't know how he's been for them so far but hats off to him yesterday. Really disrupted Digne/Bernard the whole match in my opinion.
 
Did anyone see Pickford's interview on MOTD2 after the match? He looked like he was auditioning for the next Bill & Ted movie.....either that or someone had put something in his cuppa post match lollol.
