And to be honest, we shouldn't have had the free kick which led to the goal
i disagree, thought the ref got that spot on,in one of the few things he got right, how the game ended with so many yellows i dont know, and thought he was going to red card bolasie at 1st on his tackle

I can accept the poor quality of any Everton team if, as a minimum, they do the basic of at least matching the opposition's work rate. We haven't seen that consistently from an Everton team for 2 seasons and again at the start of this one. That is what makes them so frustrating.

weird thing is is how Palace fans are saying that we're such a good team and they feel happy with a point.

We worked hard. They worked hard. Think they offered a different threat with an inform Benteke and fair play, he scored with a great header. We shouldn't have allowed them back into the game though - the issue wasn't our 'work rate' at all, we simply never clicked up a gear after getting a goal (which in previous matches this season hasn't happened, we've always 'stepped up' as we've got our goal).

And you know what, we're third. The lowest we can be by the close of the weekend is sixth. It's been a great start even with a little stutter in the last week.

I trust us to re-find our form quickly enough.

I thought we worked hard but we lack penetration...I mean....A woman wouldn't be happy getting finger blasted by Jeremy Beadle would she?? For me we need 3 30m plus players (CM, CAM, Winger) in the window and get rid of several. (Lennon, Clevs, Gibson, Kone, Niasse and Maybe Mirales too)....I just remember the telepathy between Baines and Pienaar and this is lacking..No rythym or fluidity...all a bit disjointed.

.....absolutely, Matey. I think it will take time to bring in the types of players RK wants. I can see improvement on last season, better organisation and spirit under a manager who is clearly in charge. He wants more from every individual which basically means the system can't afford luxury players. No matter how much we like them, the likes of Deulofeu, Barkley and Mirallas may not be what RK wants. They have to adapt or slip down the pecking order.

It would take a leap of faith to convince me that we are top 6 but it could change if he can bring in one or two in January that have a big impact and better suits his needs. I'm sure we'll get there.

Yep I think if we can stay in and around the top 6-8 in January he would have done a great job because there's so much he needs to fix such as -

Still need a top keeper
Coleman still isn't showing any kind of consistency
A new cm to replace Barry in time
Barkley not offering enough in that position
Lack of options up top

That could take 2-3 windows to sort and in that time there's a chance Lukaku would probably be off.

I've just said to eggs that's all we can do is try and hang onto the coat tails of those around us. If we can do that and strengthen in January then there's no reason we can't have a good season.

It's a big rebuilding job needed and unfortunately isn't a quick fix. He's got the fitness, discipline, work rate heading in the right direction, he just needs to add some quality (2-3 top players and 2-3 players at a better standard then the likes of Cleverley, Valencia etc ) and we will be on the right track.

I would love it if all results went our way this weekend and we sat in the top 4. Considering we haven't really got going yet that would be a great incentive for the team.

Overriding feeling after that is frustration.

Decent first half with some good football, great goal and we defended well. Said to my dad at h/t if we don't let them cross it I can't see where their goals will come from. They changed it in the 2nd half and they started getting crosses in and, lo and behold, Benteke peels off onto Coleman and scores with a great header.

There are positives to take, our defending is a million times better than last season, we're conceding very few shots on goal and we don'tr look like conceding everytime whoever we're playing cross the half way line.

We're looking a bit below par going forward, but we still created chances - Lukaku header in the 1st half and Gueye in the 2nd come to mind. Improvement still needed, but I'm sure 99% of you would have been happy if you were offered potentially being 2nd 1st weekend in October.

Worst performance? John Moss. What an awful referee

Just watching it now on on Sky1, sneaky handball from Jags on the free kick we scored from, ref might of done us a favor last night

Not sneaky at all, a natural reaction if you think you're going to get your head kicked in. There should have been a free kick for us just a second or so before that incident, nullifying any free kick for Jags hands. Moss got virtually everything wrong in that passage of play, and made other glaring errors throughout the game. Not the best referee on the list by a long way...
