Side note, but I thought we absolutely dominated Newcastle, fitness wise.
It’s no coincidence all of our goals came at the end, the Trippier bonanza was partly down to our harrying of a knackered fullback.
Hopefully we’ve still got enough in the tank for Sunday.
Newcastle are only getting used to the extra travel and matches with being in Europe. They have an extremely tough run up to Christmas with europe next week and then an away cup tie the midweek after that. It's not that they can't put out a very strong team, it's their lack of rotation options due to injury that is costing them. Trippier's mistake just look like a player who was running out of energy, but it was our pressing that caused those mistakes. And our good play that punished those mistakes.
We also have an extremely tough run of games coming up and will need all the squad. Getting back Seamus, Onana, Garner, will be very important because we will need all of them, especially with a few players 1 yellow from a suspension. We played Thursday, now Sunday, then Saturday, then Tuesday, then Saturday, then Tuesday (Boxing Day), then Saturday, then Thursday (FA Cup). Then (hopefully) the following Tuesday if we can beat Fulham.
That's fairly brutal to be honest, and the week off for the winter break in Jan will be much needed.
