Burnley will be a test, they will sit back with no space between their lines and look to break quickly and seek to get as many free kicks as they can. I know Hamez won’t start but he is the perfect player for this game. He can sit back and play passes all over the place, Burnley aren’t going to come out and press him. Even if his passes go astray it really doesn’t matter as long as we are set up right, Burnley don’t seem to like to have the ball at their feet.
Without Hamez I can see this being a difficult night as we will has players carrying the ball forward into very congested areas. I still think we will win, an early goal before they get settled would certainly open things up.

Burnley pressed us all over the park at Goodison last year.

James won't start and doesn't deserve to start either based on form of others. He certainly won't be fit for 90 mins anyway.

Everybody pressed us last year, they had no alternative we kept passing the ball sideways or backwards. I agree with you that Hamez won’t play. I hope Burnley do come out and look to press us on Monday, we are much better at carrying the ball forward at pace now that we would break their press easily. Can’t see it though, Burnley to sit back and try to pick something up on the break or from a set piece.

Burnley actually used the game plan to press against us last season as it was common knowledge how our defence wilts under pressure and can be pushed into mistakes fairly easily.
