Luton giving Chelsea a strong game last night and Middlesbrough knocking Tottenham out shows that you have to take each game seriously. It is not a game we should take lightly.

Hopefully the players have enough quality to score an early goal and settle nerves but we are also a team low on confidence and in poor form. We are also playing a team that consider this their cup final, they will run and run, with nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Must be winning at half time. COYB.

Reading a lot of comments about resting players tonight to be ready for the Spurs match. No problem with resting players just back from injury. But not to many. Let's go strong against this Boreham Wood outfit. And just get into the next round. Some championship teams still in the cup. So always the chance of a decent favourable home draw. Then who knows.
And as for resting players. Never seems to work for our bunch. Think I'm right in saying that when we had say two weeks break for internationals , that we then lost our next match. When matches were called off due to covid , we had a decent break. Then lost our next match. Breaks don't seem to get our bunch playing any better. In fact we always seem to look very sluggish after a break. Lampard hopefully can address all that.
I'd rather that we got up a head of steam tonight. And a few first teamers....ie.....Richarlson and Gordon scored a few goals. Gray also. Then they are chomping at the bit to take on Spurs. Confidence......confidence.
Anyhow.......let's just win this match. And no injuries. Up The Toffees.
We get a home draw v a championship side for the quarter. It would be crazy to field a weak side I think.

at half time. Then another 3 in the second half. Get a proper run out.
And a clean sheet. Get some confidence into this Everton team.
famous last words though. Hope they don't come back to bite me/us.
Up The Toffees. Lampards 3 in each half Toffees......

That's my point. Just keep hopefully fielding the right blend to get through these matches. And not too many changes.
I don't trust a complete second string. Our second string are mainly useless. Wouldn't trust them to even beat Boreham Wood. Imagine Iwobi and Gomes getting roughed up in midfield. Rondon being bossed by their CBs. Them targeting crosses towards Keane. Could happen. But hopefully not.
But the worry is us getting injuries. So I suppose it's a half and half approach. Some first teamers. Some second string. And just get through this tie. Regroup then for the Spurs match. Up The Toffees....

The last few days events have taken the wind out of my sails.

Enjoy the game mate.
Dave, mate what is happening in the world is very worrying. Hopefully the team lift our spirits this evening.

I am acutely aware though of the thousands of innocent victims in Ukraine and indeed in many other areas of conflict.

Doesn't bode well for us beat next season in the Championship does it? Although actually Luton might be a division above us soon, which is quite funny if you think about it. Luton Town.
