Goodison has to be rocking for it - they are soft bellied as we were under Silva but with 2 top strikers.

If we can grab an early goal and bully their CB's we will win.

Just concerned about our energy levels after playing two tough games already in a number of days.

This is where the sick notes Gylfi and Delph have to force themselves back to give us some fresh legs in the middle of the park - Sidibe hopefully also back for Coleman.
Delph is a lost cause. He’s probably already in Christmas mode m.

Fear we may run out of legs with so many injuries and not having any replacements to the bare 11 we have and Arsenal will get a boost under a new manager. If only Arteta can wait till after this weekend to take over.

Hope Sidibe, Sigurdson and Delph can come back in. And those with the predicted line ups: Dunc plays 4-4-2 and Schneiderlin was out for 3 weeks, so doubt he will be back for this one.

Or it might have nothing at all to do with it, except that its a nice simple formation that offers a solid 2 banks of 4 and doesnt Isolate one forward on his own.
I think it's a dreadful way to set up.

If you absolutley must, then a good blend of pairing is essential. Apart from starting with Tosun (which he wont) plus a pacier forward like Richarlison we dont have that blend.

Good managers work with the materials they have to hand. With our depleted midfield we should be starting 4-1-4-1 or 4-5-1...that's if we had a manager knowledgable in tactics....

It’s the lack of central midfielders man, 4-4-2 only requires 2, any variation of 4-5-1 requires 3.

The only other option would be a 5-2-3 but I wouldn’t fancy Baines and Coleman as wingbacks.

The previous 15 games got us 14pts...So apart from 4pts in 2 games what has 442 ever done for us.
But in practice if one fullback pushes up, 442 becomes 352 and so on.
Its also a handy fall back position that spreads across the pitch and any player, with a quick look left and right, can see the shape and where he should be in it.
In the end, like age, its only a number, its what you do with it and how you approach it.

You don't like Dunc.
Dunc played 442.
You don't like Dunc.
442 worked.
But you don't like Dunc.
442 worked.
You don't like Dunc.
So it must be somebody elses idea
