I remember being really gutted about Dean Saunders.
I was only 9 or so at the time. Apparently Howard Kendall met him at a service station, and gave him a piece of folded up paper, looking all smug, and said "this is what we can offer you, son".
Saunders opened it and laughed. It was less than he was on at Derby!
