He originally signed a three year deal so yes his wages should drop off the payroll as well at the end of June.

The competition for ball-playing CB's is extremely small in Everton's recent history.

And by extremely small I mean almost non-existent.

Holgate could surpass Stones for me easily, we need someone to come in who's going to partner up with Holgate, someone who's great in the air.

I think we should move for Clyne now that the RS have released him. There's a good player in there and he got unlucky that he got injured and lost his place. He's better than Sidebe

I was referencing more is overall game,he may not be as comfortable on the ball as Stones but I don't think Stones could've played CM and put in such a good performance like Holgate did.

I'd still be interested in Stones tbh. I could see him doing well here again.

For some reason my head is telling me he's been injured an awful lot recently though, and that would be a big worry given our record.

It’s purely sentimental, we don’t have the money to buy Stones and even if we did we could probably get Gabriel + another player for the price.

I don't doubt he is good on the ball but he takes too many chances and has too many brain fades and makes too many mistakes for me. We already have a keeper who is impetuous we don't need a CB like that too. He hasn't progressed under Pep either. Anyway doubt we are even looking at him with our budget.
