Del was a gamble, Lennon a put. A good trader makes both trades, as does a good manager.

Aye which is why I've never come out and criticised the signing of Lennon mate after the event, it's easy in hindsight to nay-say a transfer as not needed, for example right now you could argue about IF Yarmolenko is the exact player we need most due to the development of Deulofeu, three months back I'd have said he was 100% what we needed to bring in most (Still personally think he'd be a great addition - but you get my point).

Will stand by my assessment before McGeady joined though and for once was sadly spot on about him :(

Lennon was the 4m for a known commodity - we knew exactly what we'd get - as in a upgrade over McGeady and a committed 'certain level' of player, Del was the 4m for something that could make a difference here or there or could really develop, don't think a single person - Martinez included expected him to take off like he has done though

They did us over twice as we paid more to get Pienaar back than we received. Lennon signing was daft really with so many wingers on the books already then we sign a "defensive" winger...off the back of a few good games at first which tailed off by season end.

How many wingers are "on the books" already?
Deulofeu (not sure he was ready for 90 minutes weekly)
Mirallas (not sure he even wants to be at Everton)
Pienaar (when's he actually been ready to play?)
McGeady (when was he actually good enough to play)
McAleny (not first-team ready)
Kone (not a winger)
Naismith (not a winger)
Osman (not a winger)

Maybe you forgot Kiev, when there was 1 wide player on the entire roster, on account of Alcaraz's defense. I still contend that even adding Lennon to that squad would have changed the shape significantly enough that we might have seen a different outcome (or at least a little lube). I'm not at all arsed about adding Lennon to a squad that had 1.5 wingers.

It's a social contract; grammar and punctuation aren't simply things that mean middle-aged women force upon you as a lad, but they're useful tools in clear and respectful communication with others. Next you'll be telling me that replying above the quote is entirely reasonable because your Nokia 5150 makes it hard to scroll down below the quote.
Wow
Think you need to get a life
I will be waking in a cold sweat tonight thinking I hope I formatted that last post correctly or I may get home work

I've got more things to worry about thanks
I couldn't really give 2 f###s what my grammar is like
Have a good evening and try not to get to stressed over the smallest thing

Well, at the moment the position which would usually be for a weft winger is going to Kone or Cleverley.

Then theres, Deulofeu / Mirallas / McGeady /Pienaar. Add them up and its 6 players for wide positions...at the very least id have hoped Martinez would have moved on McGeady before signing Lennon.

Also, i wonder how long he expected Deulofeu to take to become 1st choice...a season perhaps max? So does this mean Lennon is happy being a bench warmer or will he look for a move in the summer as i thought he wanted playing time?
