Its Byram...one thing i dont understand is that he was highly rated for years but never got an England youth cap. Thats weird.

Also Will Hughes at Derby has gone quiet in the media as well...wonder how he's getting on?

Sam Bryam rejected a new Leeds contract. We've been linked with him for ages. Would be quality if we got him.

Garbutt - Galloway - Stones - Bryam

That'd be England's next back four for a decade.

Hughes has been out injured

Think he picked up a nasty injury earlier in the season. Not sure if he's back yet.

Bit of the Joe Allens about him though, and I've seen him play a few times. Crab-esque.

Looking at January's fixture list and the high chance of injuries picking up in December, I think it's massively important the manager looks at bringing in 1 or 2 new faces to freshen up the squad. 1 or 2 loans and/or a £8-12 million player coming in would massively lift the dressing room and provide us with the chance to rotate effectively for the league cup semis.

Regardless of Howards disgraceful form I doubt the manager would be looking at a GK, but I think a back up striker is essential if we are to achieve anything this season, an injury to Rom and we are knackered.

Would be more than happy to see Naismith out the door with the proceeds spent on someone like Igahlo.

Why would Watford who will be looking to solidify their team and stay up sell us one of their best scorers? They'll make more money staying up then we'd give them

Why would Leicester sell Vardy if they are serious about getting top 4?

Every player has their price more so for the smaller sides. £15-20 million on the table for example and I doubt Watford would keep him nor refuse him the chance to join a side fighting for a European place/playing in a cup semi final.

That's the same line of thinking we all got upset about with Chelsea and stones in the summer. Also Leicester are trying to resign him not sell him. Although im sure the mail and mirror will have 40 stories about him to United by new years
Edit: he's also probably cup tied for the league cup anyways

Would say the gulf between Everton and Watford is alot higher than Everton and Chelsea. I would also say had chelsea offered £50 million for Stones from the off he may well have gone rather than an insulting £20 million offer.

Not saying it's identical but its very similar. Chelsea fans were saying "surely everton wouldn't keep stones from competing for the the title and CL". Due to the TV deal teams don't feel the need to sell especially to other prem clubs. We told Chelsea to do one, West brom told Spurs to do one with berahino, Southampton look to be doing the same with mane.

Not to mention this whole thread is irrelevant as martinez doesn't do significant business in Jan and has already said we wouldnt really be doing any business. Just going to be people building up hype around players we've never even inquired about it then massive fume when we inevitably don't bring in the aforementioned players despite us never being seriously interested

Wish list update:

1--Alen Halilovic who was linked in the summer seems to be the main man at Sporting Gijon in Spain and his performances are leading to media stories about how he will soon be in Barca's first 11. Didnt know this but he has a clause in the loan guaranteeing he plays 60% of games.

2-- Bernardo Silva has scored 7 in 17 in the league for monaco. He was signed for €15.75mil (about £12mil at the time) and we would need to bid £20mil+ for him however next summer he's nailed on to join a top team so we'd need to act fast + Monaco need the money. He's the perfect fit for us and has world class potential, signing him would be a massive statement to Stones / Lukaku etc.

3-- Duncan Watmore has been really highly rated for a couple of seasons now and has made a big impact even off the bench against us. If Sunderland go down he could be someone to look at for Left wing.

4-- Breel Embolo has been linked and could be an ideal player to bring in because he can play several positions in midfield and also act as backup to Lukaku so would be getting games from day 1.

5-- Youri Tielemans like Embolo can play in a few positions in the centre of the pitch so would get games from day 1. He's currently touted for either Juventus or Man Utd in the summer but I think at his age (18) could be swayed due to the young group we have who are getting regular games, Martinez himself and also the way we play. He's done a bit of a "Barkley" this season and scored at a faster rate than last year.

5-- William Carvalho has just come back from that 3 month injury and played in two games for Sporting. Arsenal are always linked with him but now have Coquelin and whilst we dont need him today he'd slot in alongside McCarthy and they could look similar to Petit and Vieira as a partnership or perhaps more 'fearsome and destructive'.

6-- Jack Butland....would be in the summer and cost a fortune for a keeper.

7-- Yarmolenko....needs no introduction but obviously his agent likes to publicize meetings with us and photos as the ground. Yarmolenko also admitted his contract extension was solely so Kiev can get money for him and possibly has a reasonable buyout inside too. I just noticed hes played 17 games and scored 10 goals this season...

Obviously some if not all of these suggestions are extremely unlikely. However, lots of speculation on here about Stones and Lukaku and us needing champions league to keep hold of them.

I think if we do have the money for Yarmolenko then that would be about whats needed in January for either him or Embolo. Also adding to the pot with a sale (Mirallas/Naismith) we would probably have enough for Tielemans, Silva or Carvalho.

Kiev are 3rd in chelseas group, Monaco and Anderlecht are 2nd/3rd in spurs europa league group.

Im aware of Martinez's quotes on new signings but just for fun imagine the euphoria around the squad if one of these players was brought in....could really push us to another level on the pitch and boost morale.
regarding Yarmolenko, Kiev are almost certain to finish either first or second in their group and thus go into knockout stage. Yarmolenko thus has a very big stage to display his wares. Some money bags club will be in for him.

I thought theyre 3rd in group + if chelsea and the other side in 2nd draw theyre out?
