Gomes, Davies (was good last season as Allan cover), Delph, Iwobi (who is already showing signs), Gbamin - all have a part to play to bolster the depth and be viable alternatives to the first team. James has to be brought back into the squad to be involved. The real worry is the full back positions. We’ll just have to pray we are lucky.

When you have glaring holes you prioritise the glaring holes. Brands prioritised other positions first then left full back to a deadline day lottery. The decision to then loan out Nkounkou is almost too ridiculous to believe.
This isn't the first time we've been left completely short by Brands but it is by far the worst instance. How anyone can have confidence in him at thos point is beyond me. His mistakes this window will hurt us and could derail the season.
We don't improve until the people in charge of recruitment at this club are removed from their roles. Its not scapegoating or the blame game, it's realism and an acceptance that this isn't working.
