Everton Summer transfers 2021

The best players play for the best teams.

It is about time we showed some serious intent by bidding for one or two players who play from these teams.
Instead of best of the rest and journeymen.

As yesterday showed, our midfield may be better than it was last season, but it still needs a lot of work.

We are also not in a position to play 3 luxury players in a starting 11.

Gomes, James and Gylfi do not have enough fight when you have to dig in.
But get 2 injuries and we are out of other options.

I would still try and get the RWB from Brighton. Got potential.

Priority has to be a new goalkeeper. Neither Pickford or Olsen are ever going to take us into the top 6.

Pace and power out the right with a new RB and RW would make a massive difference. At least one of Gomes, Siggy or James have to go this summer too - too slow to have all three of them on the pitch.

I suspect James will be the one to depart after a year of getting kicked up and down the field in the freezing cold.

I agree Coleman may be kept as back up right back and if we could sell Pickford I would keep Olsen as back up. Sigurdsson is a millstone round our neck but would love him to go. King it depends how he performs between now and end of the season. He might take the Xxxxxx that are 2nd striker.
Mate I would like to retreat my comment after yesterday shambolic display. We need better players. Some of these players should be sold and we make better signings to make the current starters to warm the bench.

You can buy all the players that you want but until we rid ourselves of this losing mentality that permeates the club we will never achieve.
It starts with our CEO , a really good person but totally illequiped to run such a massive and important organisation.
Unless we have winners at every level of the club we will always get 2nd best.

We have a lot of mentally weak players at the club, you can see this. No winners. All talk no action. Imagine the embarrassment as a player watching players from 18th placed Fulham out battling you in every department? The managers tactics need questioning but it’s no coincidence it’s the same old tried and tested players that have been here for years who are churning out the same old level of performances.

Hard for some to realise that a culture is developed from the top and filters down.

Each job you have has a culture which is created by the CEO etc. That attitude filters down and you consume it by osmosis.

If everyone is hard working but you play hard you buy into it and that’s the culture etc.

A football club is no different until the powers that be cultivate a winning club we will alway be like this and no manager will ever change this not even Carlo Ancelotti or any of the players we sign.

James is by far the best but id sell Sigurdsson and Gomes in an instant.

We really should be thinking that transfer record for Sigurdsson of £42mil needs breaking and go after some real stars to add to those we have.

Right-back
Ball-carrying midfielder
Goalkeeper
Wide forward (even if King stays)

all as much a priority as each other

I think if Davies continues with his improved performances then we'll have:

Allan
Doucoure
Davies
Onyango

So we'd need 2 more coming in.

Also by 2 more i mean at least one player better than all of those combined who can run the show.

That's absolute nonsense. I don't think the rs players have a clue who their CEO is, and I think it has zero effect on the team.

The Director of Football, Manager and coaches are the only people who have an effect on the football side of any club

Sorry I strongly disagree.

The club is not a winning club and doesn't believe in win at all costs, our CEO experience is running a non profit charity totally different to running a football club.

Look at it this way, we haven't won anything since 1995 why? Hundreds of different players, multiple managers?

Two major consistent people Jimmy Martin the kitman and our luvly, duvy romantic chairman who loves an underdog story.

He has been chairman since 2001, we have one cup final to our name, and a further 4 semi-finals and one top 4 finish, he's overseen our longest barren spell but for some he can't do wrong.

The excuses his excuse makers have moved onto is he's just the chairman because "he has minimal shares" but this is a chairman's role

The essential tasks of a Chairman are:

  • providing leadership to the board
  • taking responsibility for the board’s composition and development
  • ensuring proper information for the board
  • planning and conducting board meetings effectively
  • getting all directors involved in the board’s work
  • ensuring the board focuses on its key tasks
  • engaging the board in assessing and improving its performance
  • overseeing the induction and development of directors
  • supporting the chief executive/MD

This is a role that is being satisfied by a man who openly admitted to not knowing how to run a football club.

He's got to go, until he's gone there will always be people like me questioning why he is still here.

His time is up.

In our case, we have (a) a female CEO and (b) a CEO with a penchant for communications. (a) will of its nature attract profile by the very fact of it being unusual and (b) is being done by choice by the club. We have a CEO who for their own reasons, feel it necessary to send regular emails and updates to stakeholders on all manner of issues. IMO, we should a comms team / director managing that.

The current set up is indicative of someone who is perhaps too hands on. And coming from a charity and non-football background, that benevolent mindset is hardly likely to instill a competitive mindset amongst the staff be they commercial, admin or football operations. As an earlier poster noted, culture starts at the top and permeates. I have no doubt our CEO's heart is in the right place but perhaps that right place is really EITC. And he need a hard nosed results oriented driven ba$tard in to hold people accountable.
