Have a look at their transfer business from when construction on the stadium started until up to maybe 4-5 years after it was built. The had a negative net spend from 2004-2008 (stadium opened in 2006) and largely required on departures to fund transfers (Viera, Henry, Hleb, Cole etc). Spurs are still feeling the financial impact of funding a brand new stadium and we'll be no different.
What sort of player wants to sign before he knows who the manager is and how he sees him fitting into the team? Not any good ones.
