Ramsey is a no from me...
The one problem is I don't think it is too much of a stretch to think Allan turning 30 and coming off of his most injury hit season so far was maybe more likely to have that continue than be fit often again. When we signed Allan his injury record over the past 3 seasons was on average 25 days per year... Ramseys is 147!
When we signed Allan we offered him what.. £70k a week, Ramsay is currently on £300k+
We paid £22m for a midfielder the boss knew and trusted, on average wages, who had a decent reputation and a decent injury record.
But you want to compare him against us signing Ramsay a year older for whatever money/loan to pay id guess at least half his current wages, to more than likely be fit half a season, when we already have a huge wage on the treatment table each week?
Would we even be talking about Allan if we had a strong squad? Our issue is always relying on one or two players because the replacements don't have similar attributes. James is out all we have is Sig who is a different type. Doucoure is out and we have Gomes who is nothing like him. Gbamin/Allan are out Delph, Davies don't offer the same and on and on...Of course you won't have the same quality of replacements if you aren't a CL team but you need to have players who can fill in. Our issue is the drop off isn't just in quality from our best eleven but its in the things our best players bring. That's why our squad is poorly constructed. The one problem is I don't think it is too much of a stretch to think Allan turning 30 and coming off of his most injury hit season so far was maybe more likely to have that continue than be fit often again.
The problem is not many from Zats lists turn out to be any good.I'd personally go back to the fantasy football transfer lists @Zatara puts up and work through the young up and coming players in the positions we most need filled.
The Camavingas/Gravenbachs/Sarrs etc who we all scoff at as 'bigger' clubs will be after them i think we might see a lot of the so called 'big' clubs willing to pay big bucks for one or two proven targets this summer but maybe not as willing to take the chance on the younger potential.
The days of Barca/Real snapping up the good youngsters is over while theyre skint, maybe nows the time to go in early for potential next big things.
I know it didnt work out with Kean but he was coming in to play a position we were relatively strong in most weeks and worst case we recoup our outlay.
A young top class midfielder is going to play most weeks for us with Allan/James/Gomes still involved.
Nah there's about 300 on there of which 75% will be in the 'where did it all go wrong' column in 5 year, but i can't see all the 'prodigys' being snapped up by this summer by CL big hitters, and their current clubs/agents will all be looking a payday with the current financial uncertainty. The problem is not many from Zats lists turn out to be any good.
There is no pressure to succeed at any level of the club so why would they be worried about scouting guff. Not being funny but Everton is a long standing professional organisation. I am no expert in the transfer market but that is understandable as it is not my profession. But you would hope that Everton and the people that work there do have some expertise so how difficult can it be to find better players than we already have? Half the time when they do buy a player the majority of the supporters ask themselves “Why would you buy them???”, and often the signing does not work out. It is a bit of a mystery what goes through their heads sometimes especially when you consider the financial commitment they are making
If there was no pressure to succeed we would still have Roberto Martinez as manager. There is no pressure to succeed at any level of the club so why would they be worried about scouting guff.
Depends on what you mean by succeed I guessIf there was no pressure to succeed we would still have Roberto Martinez as manager.
I mean we have had 5 different managers in 5 years and 2 Director of footballs.
Hardly seems like Daddys yacht.
The board have good intentions, but as usual with Everton they messed it all up with Carlo by not going the full hog and getting in more quality players alongside James, Allan and Doucoure. If there was no pressure to succeed we would still have Roberto Martinez as manager.

I don't know if this is the right word, but I was expecting a lot more imagination on the recruitment front from such a fancy foreign director of football. Not being funny but Everton is a long standing professional organisation. It'll be interesting to see how they handle it if things get rocky under Ancelotti. If there was no pressure to succeed we would still have Roberto Martinez as manager.

Everton are reportedly keen on signing Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny this summer and it is believed Carlo Ancelotti’s side are willing to pay the Italian’s old club £9million for the Pole’s signature – prompting reaction from Everton fans.
Szczesny, who turned 31 last month, is being linked with a summer exit as Juventus look to bring in a new goalkeeper. AC Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma is being linked with the Serie A giants, given his contract at Milan is about expire this summer.
Szczesny has been first choice for Juventus this season, clocking up 35 appearances in all competitions but the 52-time Poland international has hardly impressed, keeping only eight clean sheets. Gianluigi Buffon is his cover at 43 years of age.
Italian outlet Tutto Juve have claimed that Everton are keen on bringing the Polish stopper back to the Premier League this summer, having come through the ranks at Arsenal. But it is claimed Everton are only willing to pay £9million to sign him.
Everton fans have reacted on Twitter to the reports that Szczesny could be playing under Ancelotti at Everton next season, and many believe he would be a class signing for the Toffees in the coming months – especially at such a low price.

What do we think of Szczesny? Apparently, Koeman was after him last summer. By all reports, he's had a good few seasons on loan at Roma. With his contract expiring next month, perhaps would be a good pick for us on a free.
I think he's very decent.
I predict dese tingsLikes a bifter, too.
