It's clear as day now that the excuse delivered by the club's media helpers is this: "The club tried hard to get a deal for Diaz over the line, but Blackburn wouldn't entertain the terms they wanted the player for".

Ah well. They did try.

9 weeks since Richarlsion left and we're left with a BS excuse like that.

You need plenty of goals and the players we have dont get them.

Failed in the window replacing Richarlison with Maupay. Can have a better defence and midfield all you want but if you’ve no goal scorers you are banjoed.

You can’t look at players in and out in isolation.

Look at everyone we’ve signed and their likely games and contribution v the likely outs and their contribution.

For the record though, Maupay has scored 4 fewer PL goals than richarlison over the last 3 seasons.

He was good for us, but it's not like we're replacing a 20 goal a season striker
