Can we use the Moise Kean money next summer to sign Gakpo?
Not really, but we could in theory bring in a 30m plus player without selling Gordon. From the point of view of the accounts and FFP it doesn't matter if we sell Gordon (or whoever) tomorrow or on the 30th of June next year, it's all about the financial year. Hence what we did with Richy. So we could maybe buy now, sell later.
The fact we are looking at 40m + bids for Gordon probably gives us confidence that there's a high value asset there that we didn't pay a penny for, and barring serious injury or loss of form there will be interest at the end of the season. That's a risk, but if we do need to sell a 30m + player to balance the books in theory Pickford, DCL or Gordon are all options. If Patterson has a good season wing-backs (especially young high potential ones) are in high demand, or we could even sell new arrivals like Onana or even Gakpo himself for profit if they have good seasons.
It's doable.
