Teams like Chelsea and United don't and they've spent more.

Both those clubs aren't able to spend freely this Summer though and Villa getting CL football is irrelevant - they've still spent more than their means.

I'm not sure we can say they've spent beyond their means. I'm not aware of them being in any financial trouble or lots of debt or anything like that.

Either way. Needs must. I like him, think with a bit of hands of coaching and belief/run of games he'd be a solid premiership winger.

Yes but that's surely because of the rules, not because they have financial troubles. That's my point.

The rules are pointless. Absolutely not doing what people say they were put in place to do.

And now the rules are encouraging teams to offload academy players. Surely that's bad for the game ?
