just a few things that i want to say about the lack of scouting that seems to be at our club. it has been bugging me for a while now and i just hope that a lot on here have had different experiences an they write bac to me on this topic. i go to watch my nephews play football more a less every weekend and i have never in about the last 3/4 years seen 1 everton scout at any match or training session.
every week there are rs scouts everywer an there are also the odd blackburn ones here an there. in the halewood league there is a strong rs connection with plenty of kids gettin the oppertunity to go on trials with them an my oldest nephew has recently joined the mossley hill league an it is exactly the same. rs coaches an badges all over the place. it is like we are not even in existence in the city.
in the aigburth league it is the same situation an on st margerates school there is a massive rs badge advertising there soccer schools. i jus think it is a joke an the young blues around are being forgotten about and snapped up by the rs. they seem to have the whole of the south end of the city boxed off. it is seriously like we have no foothold in the city at all as i am serious wen i say i have never ever seen 1 everton scout.
sorry about the SA but it really does get to me as the profile of their club is just constantly being raised an ours seems to be going absolutely nowhere. does any1 else feel the same as i do or do others jus simply not agree??

Completely disagree Malley. There will be a good amount of Everton scouts, when you say you have never seen one, how do you know? (y)

scouts are easy to identify. they are usually dressed completely in the club tracksuits an coats for the club they are workin for. they also usually have files/folders with them to get players details they have spotted. there is nothin to disagree with really as everythin i have seen is fact but u might have had different experiences yourself and been in company of scouts or seen them yourself. but believe me, at the pitches i mentioned there is nothin from our club.
i have emailed the club regarding my concerns as i think this is a major worry as at more a less every kids football there are lpool coaches an badges everywer an not a single sighting of anythin everton

I think the club are missing a trick with scouting. How many fans are there around the world? That's a lot of eyes and ears that could be used to unearth gems if only the club tapped that resource. The club could even pay the fan that first spots a player some money if the club end up signing them.

Maybe Everton act in a more professional manner? - Any scout who goes out of his/her way to show that they are a scout would be completely up their own arse.

pathetic way of lookin at it that mate. scouts are an all round profile raiser for the club in the city an thats wat i think needs to be improved. who cares if their up their own arse?? if they do their job then it certainly would not bother the majority

But it isn't really is it? - "all round profile raiser for the club" I dont think the odd fella standing in a tracksuit will do a great deal to enhance Everton/Liverpool reputation.... Wearing a clubs tracksuits serves no purpose other than to big up the ego of the scout, if I was a scout I certainly wouldn't want every person knowing because it then deflects the focus from the football to yourself. A friends little brother (his elder brother posts on here) was picked up by Everton a few years ago while playing in Speke - funnily enough, the story went along the lines of "We had no idea this bloke was an Everton scout - he just approached my dad at the end of the game"

How was Wayne Rooney discovered? By Bob Pendleton who certainly doesnt stand on the sidelines in an Everton tracksuit, wanting to be the centre of attention.

You haven't got a clue as to how Evertons scouting network actually works. Not a clue. For that reason, you dont have any justification to slate the club.

Exactly I see Bob Pendleton in West Derby Village all the time
just seems like a normal man going to the somerfield haha
the only reason i know who he is, is he coached my dad's team when he used to play as a youngster and
he took my brother to Everton a few years back.
I see him watching games on the Bill Shankley fields of a sunday morning with no everton stuff on what-so-ever

They may as well just use the Football Manager computer game database instead which is made in the same way.

Theres my point.

Its widely understood at grass root level that Everton scouts are fairly anonymous - and rightly so.

The only thing I would say is my Grandson up to the end of last season was part of the Everton mini-kickers where once a week a Everton coach took them for training and then a game, there was one lad who stood out above the rest,he had skills that belied his age (only up to 8 years old) any how after watching him all season at the end Everton offered him a position on the Everton training scheme, only to be told he had signed for Liverpool a Week EARLIER .he had been approached a couple of times but hung out as he and his family are all season ticket holders at Everton but when they came round a week before the end they had given up on Everton wanting him,now surely they could have acted quicker.

Is it fair to cirticise the clubs scouting system with so many graduates in the first team squad and likely to be in the next few years, certainly we are well represented at youth international level and its intresting to note other players who were at one time on our books now playing for other Prem sides.

If it aint broke! When you think that our main compition hasnt really produced any gems since happt features we are doing well!

Only way for this to be solved is for the club to either hire me as a scout or pay me finders fees for the gems I find.

FACT

(self confidence rocks)

i was picked up by tranmere and my brother was spotted by liverpool. i was 12 he was 15. only reason i got spotted was because ronny goodlas had a friend from rovers come over to his footy school's in the mid 90's. why didn't ronny goodlas have his friend from everton come over? but my brother was picked up playing sunday league on the jeff humble fields (LBA). kids where getting picked up by liverpool all the time back then. where the [Poor language removed] were everton when fowler, gerrard, carragher, mcmannaman, rush etc etc when the [Poor language removed] got them.

It's a valid approach though isn't it? Football Manager has picked many a rising star of the game. There's a lot of knowledge in the Everton fanbase that the club could utilise if they wanted.

Look at something like Popular Ideas - Dell IdeaStorm as an example, and I dare say Everton fans are more devoted to the club than Dell customers are to Dell.

It would essentially be a free resource so it wouldn't take many players to be found that otherwise wouldn't have been to see value from it.
