Everton reopen talks with Sam Allardyce

The final nail in the coffin of the 'new era'. Nothing announces to the world that our ambition is no higher than the also-rans more than this. I'm at a loss to find the words for how bafflingly short-sighted this set of clowns are.

Allardyce leaves nothing but [Poor language removed] behind him everywhere he has been and this will be no different.

The clubs he leaves are poor teams he has just saved from relegation or teams where hes been hounded out.

However I don't think you could blame him for future failures of those clubs because they don't spend big money to improve anyway...its a money driven game.

If we gave allardyce 100mil for 2 centre backs I think hed go for very good ones don't you?

..people more knowledgable than me are throwing their dummies out and they might be right. Personally, I think we urgently need a change and although Allardyce wouldn’t me choice i’m not dying in a ditch over it.

Remember folk on here jumping up and down with our summer signings and look how they’ve turned out.

None of us have a crystal ball, Sam might be catastrophic or he could surprise. Time will tell.

id be quite happy myself...not very happy but pleased.

We should not be offering any manager a straight salary. Give them a modest wage, bonuses for each win, big bonuses for avoiding relegation, winning trophies, etc. Then let them work for their money.
I agree mate, but we're in such a state, it'll be fat Sam calling the shots on this one. He's been watching backstage, watching us implode and rubbing his chubby hands together.

Yes I get that, and as I said I’ve no issue with those who’ve a genuine gripe - I’m not exactly over the moon here myself.

It’s the bandwagon-jumpers who do my head in.

If he’s appointed however, I’m of the opinion we should get behind the team and go with it, short term at least.

Agree with this Big Sam is far from my cup of tea, but if he becomes Everton manager I will get behind him, everybody needs to stick together we are in a helluva mess. The players are taking no notice of Unsy, they won't mess around with Allardyce in charge. Remember the last time we were in this kind of mess, Mike Walker was in charge, Joe Royle took over and saved us. Not with pretty football, but with what was needed at the time " The dogs of war ". Allardyce might not be the manager we deserve, but just maybe he will be the manager we need. I know this ain't popular but sometimes you have to take your medicine to get better.

I could probably accept (not like) his style of football if it was the only way to stay up (we're not there yet imo).
What I can't accept is a man of his character as manager of our club.
EITC. Bradley Lowery. This man is not who we are.
Am I being a snowflake? Romanticising Everton more than we deserve?
Need a reality check here cos it genuinely feels like I might be losing my marbles.

Sam is not ideal in anyway shape or form, but is here simply because of a spineless backstabbing bunch of so called professional footballers. Any anger over this appointment should be directed at the players and not Allardyce, he doesn't promise to be anything but functional.
The mad thing is he gets the team working hard and winning people will forget the harm these players inflicted on our club....

I'm quite looking forward to cheap Championship tickets. Plus I'll be able to see us at the Madjeski at least once (as it's just up the road), so that's a plus.

He will slay the relegation fears.
