...we're top in that statistic but it doesn't make me proud.
It's a grim read that like.Every time we fail to win there it gets me thinking about how other fans must feel playing away against their 'superior' neighbours and wondered how their derby record compared with ours. When looking in to this I only wanted to compare actual city rivals, and only clubs who play in a derby against a team that has excelled in European Football.
I've chosen any side on here with 3 or more significant European trophy wins, that play in a same city derby. The only exceptions being Arsenal who are deemed the bigger of the 2 North London Clubs but have won less European trophies than Spurs, and I also added Benfica. I'm not counting Super Cups or Intertoto either:

League matches played away since last win at Rival's ground:
Liverpool v Everton = 17
Chelsea v Fulham = 15
Dynamo Kiev v FC Arsenal Kiev = 11* (Never beaten Dynamo Kiev)
Juventus v Torino = 9
Barcelona v Espanyol = 8
Feyenoord v Sparta Rotterdam = 8
Porto v Boavista = 6
Arsenal v Tottenham= 6
AC Milan v Inter = 4
Bayern Munich v 1860 Munich = 4
Sevilla v Real Betis = 4
Benfica v Sporting CP = 1
Real Madrid v Atletico Madrid = 0
Man United v Man City= 0
Hamburg v St Pauli = 0
Only 4 other clubs won their last derby before ours in 2010/11 and the winless run in any competitive derby for them is:
Espanyol = 17
Fulham = 17
Everton = 14
1860 Munich = 9
Boavista = 9
Obviously Chelsea may not class Fulham as their biggest rivals but both Spurs, Arsenal, West Ham etc have other rivals they consider their main rival. When you look at some of the sides in there, it's staggering to think that they can go to some of the current biggest clubs in Europe and get a win, and we can't beat a side who hasn't won a title in the time we have failed to beat them.
Apologies for another depressing thread but thought some may find it interesting to see how we compare, especially given that some of those clubs are far smaller than we are and the gap between the sides in quality is far superior.
It's got to the point where I'm almost immune to it. The outcome is so obvious it's depressing. Honestly already dreading the games next year.
It doesn't get better until the club find some gut and stop accepting it. All those involved in the Kenwright era and it's regime, see Evertons rightful position in English football as below Liverpool. With that sort of pathetic defeatist mindset it's no wonder we get embarassed by them so often.
This, a lot of people became involved in the club knowing they were incapable of keeping up our winning tradition, they then looked to protect themselves by pedalling a culture of mediocrity.
Moshiri needs to bin everyone and I mean everyone and bring is own men in. We're to nice and it makes me sick
In the last 17 league matches since we won there, we've only scored 9 goals. We've only been in front in 2 of those 17 matches. One was in 2001/2 when Radzinski put us in front for 19 minutes. Then again in 2010/11 when Beckford put us 2-1 up and we led for 16 minutes. In 17 matches since we won we've been in front for a total of 35 minutes! It's no wonder the mental problem is so big when we cant even get in front for a whole half over 17 matches let alone win a match.
It's not just us who seem to completely let the occasion get to us at Anfield. City since having title winning sides have failed to win there and their last win was in 2002/03 and have only won once in 30 odd years I think. So I do think we have to accept that it's a tough place to go.
But what annoys me the most is that since that win in 99, it always feels like we go there worrying about them and their possible threats and just completely ignore how we can hurt them. The evidence is there for all to see that we had the most threatening player out of all 22 in our ranks yesterday and how did we use him? We didn't and instead Koeman, like Martinez and Moyes before him gave them too much respect. I think Koeman got it wrong against Spurs and I think he got it wrong yesterday.
We should have exploited 31 year old Milner at left back yesterday but instead we were running scared of what they could do to us. He could have even thrown Mirallas on the left, Valencia up front to battle in the air and stuck Lukaku more out on the right to cut in like he did against Arsenal in that 3-0 at Goodison in Martinez' first season. Lukaku wouldn't have been any more isolated out there than he was up front yesterday. Mirallas or Lukaku could have exploited that weakness at Left Back for them. You saw how Milner panicked a few times in posession as well by sticking it out and he has never been blessed with pace.
Until we play our own game there and give them something to think about instead of focusing on their threat, I can't see it changing.
I actually seen this yesterday,havent checked to see if true or right,as cant be bothered
Big Joe as a player and Manager knew how to beat that red lot!This, a lot of people became involved in the club knowing they were incapable of keeping up our winning tradition, they then looked to protect themselves by pedalling a culture of mediocrity.
yeah,the one were me been stupid i thought we might win when we went ahead,why did i think that when you know they will get a pen lolThe only game we've played well at the Pit since 1999 is that Beckford/Distin game
