Dependent on which report you believe, Everton have either agreed, or close to agreeing a deal worth £30 million for Sunderland’s England under-21 international Jordan Pickford.

The Liverpool Echo claim a fee has been agreed with Everton hoping to complete the move when he returns from the European under-21 Championships.

The Telegraph report a deal is close, claiming negotiations have progressed between the two clubs over the past 24 hours and Everton are growing increasingly confident of signing the highly-regarded goalkeeper this month with a deal that could eventually reach £30 million after various add-ons and clauses.

Everton in talks with Sunderland over £30m deal for Jordan Pickford via The Guardian

• Merseyside club agree deal in principle to sign 23-year-old
• Fee would make Pickford Britain’s most expensive goalkeeper
Everton are in advanced talks with Sunderland over a deal for Jordan Pickford and willing to meet the £30m asking price to land the England Under-21 goalkeeper.

The Goodison Park club registered their interest in the 23-year-old shortly after Sunderland were relegated from the Premier League but their initial valuation was rejected. Negotiations have continued, however, and Everton have agreed in principle to meet Sunderland’s demands for £30m. The structure of the deal, involving the size of the initial payment and add-ons, has still to be finalised.
