Ronald Koeman has accused English coaches of being afraid to blood young players and claimed a lack of talent was the only reason he stuck with so few at Southampton.

The Everton manager has drawn heavily on the club’s academy products and young signings during his first season at Goodison Park, with Tom Davies, Mason Holgate, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Ademola Lookman plus – more recently – Matthew Pennington, Jonjoe Kenny and Joe Williams all regular members of the first team squad.

The Sun prints apology for Kelvin MacKenzie column on Ross Barkley via The Guardian

Former editor, who compared mixed-race Everton footballer to a gorilla, was suspended by newspaper

The Sun has published an apology to Ross Barkley after their columnist Kelvin MacKenzie compared the Everton footballer, who is mixed-race, to a gorilla.

MacKenzie, a former Sun editor, wrote the column after the player was attacked in a nightclub. He suggested that Barkley, who has a Nigerian grandfather, was punched because he was similar to an animal in a zoo.
