I doubt very much they had the resources to win the league a couple of years ago either.
Perfect storm that year
Other teams in transition and a couple of the big guns stumbled.
The fact is nowadays you need City Chelsea United levels of money to win the PL
EVEN Spurs and the RS couldn’t do it.

Since 2000 the following teams have reached a cup final or won the prem league

Southampton, Sunderland, Bradford, Swansea, Cardiff, Aston Villa, Wigan, Bolton, Tranmere, Blackburn, Middlesborough, Milwall, West Ham, Portsmouth, Stoke, Hull, Crystal Palace, Leicester

if that dross can get to the finals and some of them win an actual damn trophy then we should definitely be able to win a cup within the next 30 years

I'd expect at least 2

We got to a cup final in 2009 though.
Took the lead, then Hibbert and Osman did the rest.

Since 1989 only 3 teams outside the current top six have won the FA cup
Us Portsmouth and Wigan.
Since 2000 only 4 teams outside the current top 6 have won the League cup
I can see those stats changing too much over the next few years.
Top clubs need a trophy to satisfy fans and with only 3 trophies for the top 6 to fight over they take even the League cup a lot more seriously than they used to

It’s his first year in the PL, he’s just a kid & hasn’t really had many chances.

Why does everyone have to be an instant superstar to show they have potential?
They don't,but he hasn't shown much of anything. He needs to go out on loan or be prepared to wait his chance,I've a feeling he thinks he's better than that.Hope I'm wrong.

I'd take serious convincing that this wasn't the case.
If Vlasic was a full International and on the radar of bigger clubs I’d say Walsh / Koeman knew of him.
The 2 games against us probably pushed them to sign him.
I doubt he was bought to slot straight into the first 11
If played properly I think there is a good player in there
