We're spending cash on players at Benitez's request on his targets...some are trying to convince themselves that someone else is buying them because him buying them contradicts their hope of an early Benitez dismissal.

I think Benitez will have ok'd both. But the club look to be playing it safe by targeting players that we have scouted previously. These arent Benitez requests, like Townsend and Gray where.

Selling Holgate would be absolutely brilliant, anything over £10m would be great business for us. It would be good for him as well, he's badly regressed over the last 18 months and he needs a fresh start somewhere else. We need to shift Mina this window too if we can. A very decent centre back on his but far too injury prone and only 18 months left on his deal.

We still need to bring in a centre midfielder and hopefully a centre back if we can make those Holgate and Mina sales. That would really inject some new life into this dismal squad.

Digne is just an excuse to have a go at Rafael. 1st it was James, now its Digne, for a brief period it was also Richy when people didn't believe he was actually injured.
19 points from 18 games, worse than Mike Walker who is widely considered to be our worst manager of modern times, is the best reason to have a go at Benitez. Everything else is just gravy (the stuff Benitez drinks by the pint).

Lives in Manchester so wouldn't have to move like he would have to for Newcastle or Norwich. Just needs to swallow his pride, he always gets upset in interviews that many see him as a Championship player but if he wants to kick start his career it would be a good move.

Agree we are desperate for a leader at the back and another midfielder with mobility.

Wanting someone and actually getting them are 2 different things unfortunately.

We wouldn't have been able to afford his 12 mil dollars per year wages either

Ahhh so he called up Insigne to see if he fancied the move. Insigne said yeah and Benitez said "sound, you ok playing for free like because we can't afford you"

Makes total sense and great to see we have a manager calling up players personally, even though we can't afford them.

Oh no that's right, he didn't personally call him at all because you don’t have a clue
