Surely Besiktas paying the portion of his wages they would pay if they got him on a free and us making that up over the next 6 months to what he would have got here is an option?
As long as Besiktas were paying him a decent wage that was in line with Turkish contracts then that's probably the best we'd get to save a few hundred thousand. Not great but what else to expect?
I guess it depends, if Besiktas will only pay a small % of his wage, then that probably doesn’t let us go out and loan in another player to cover him going out. Tosun is probably 4th choice behind DCL, Richarlison, Dobbin for the striker position, maybe even Simms. So you could argue that we don’t need to replace him directly and that could be true, but we could do with freeing the wages up, even if it’s not for that position, so we could get maybe another midfielder. At the moment we are probably in a strong position to say, either someone buys him out of his contract or covers all his wages till the end of his contract, it’s still early in the window and anything is possible.
