I am not certain re Kendall, and as yet it hasn't been done mid season, by the end of that season I'm convinced Kendall passes. Likewise I remember polls done on Moyes on various forums when we struggled and he rarely went below 70% of fan supporting him. Many of the 70% were quite critical, but generally still didn't want him sacked.
It took until right at the end under Martinez and in honesty probably spurred on by the option of huge Moshiri money to get rid of him.
Allardyce is a very bad fit and people can see no long term viability in it. At no point has he tried to buck that trend, with loaning lads like Lookman out, starting Martina over Kenny or not giving fringe players a chance. He has re-enforced the perception he is here for the short term. It makes no difference whether we finish 8th or 14th now, and we would get far more value testing lads like Vlasic, Klaassen etc and seeing if they were ready for next season, but to Allardyce it makes enormous difference for 2 reasons. Firstly on his cv he can state he got a top half finish for a relegation certainty side (which is how he and his mates will frame it come the next job). And secondly he will use it to attack the club, "sacked for finishing 8th" sounds a lot more harsh than "sacked for finishing 14th". A disproportionate amount of his decisions and moves are related to his image management so this will be vitally important to him.
Whether this trend continues once Kenwright is gone we will not know. I think it's important if/when Allardyce is sacked the club make it clear it is not to do with the fans filling out the questionnaire. What is also important is they send a clear message, whoever the next manager is that they are here for the long term. If it's Fonseca, get the guy on a 5 year deal, make a big thing of it, lead people in that he is a long term choice and people will follow.
Then if they get Brands, make it clear he is now in charge of recruitment of managers going forward. Considering Brands' comments of late, I suspect a lot may depend on that. Currently we have a bizarre situation where 3 men partake in different roles of the DOF. Walsh, Kenwright and Moshiri all fulfil functions of a DOF. I can see why Brands will think adding him as a 4th guy in the role will likely not improve things. Kenwright needs to be moved on, Walsh needs to be given a strictly scouting brief and Moshiri needs to but out of the football side and ensure his role is holding the DOF and new CEO to account as well as making sure the stadium is progressing.
